Corey (he/him, Fayetteville, WV) is advancing outdoor recreation in West Virginia by providing technical assistance to communities to develop routes and trails that connect people to the state’s most special places. As Outdoor Community Development Manager at the WVU Smith Outdoor Economic Development Collaborative, he partners with communities to align, plan and steward bikepacking routes, gravel networks, and trail systems that strengthen local economies. A husband, father, 10th-generation West Virginian and multi adventure sport athlete, Corey brings a holistic, professional background that informs his approach to long-distance, human-powered travel. He is a Governor appointed water trails commissioner and an active advocate through the Outdoor Alliance’s Grasstops Collective, supporting efforts like the Great American Outdoors Act and the EXPLORE Act to expand and protect access to public lands.
