WTF Bikepacking Adventure — Fall 2026

Two Horse Farm Edition

Women, trans, and femme relaxed, social, bikepacking adventure to Johnson County Conservation’s Two Horse Farm! Join us for a beginner-friendly weekend of paved-road and trail biking, hiking, camping, fun, and a RARE (Raptor Advocacy Rehabilitation & Education) program!

Date & Time

Saturday, September 12 – Sunday, September 13, 2026

  • 12:30–12:45 pm: Check-in
  • 1:00 pm: Depart
  • Sunday ~11:00 am: Return

Routes

Saturday 9/12/26 – 13.4 miles
Sunday 9/13/26 – 14.9 miles

Can I do it?

Yes! This is a beginner-friendly, low-mileage bikepacking trip on mostly paved roads and trails. Some hills are involved. If you’re comfortable biking 15 miles on varied terrain, you should be fine.

Never bikepacked before? Don’t wait until the last minute! Get a rack and panniers and start gathering your gear at least a week or two in advance. Take several practice rides with your loaded bike. The extra weight will change your balance and how your bike handles.

A few tips:

  • Practice starting and stopping with a loaded bike.
  • Plan for breaks a little earlier than you normally would.
  • Downshift before you stop on a hill so you can get going again more easily.

Registration

Registration is limited to 30 people. Online registration closes Wednesday, September 9. You may still register by email after that date if space is available.

Fee

The suggested fee is $30 per person, but please feel free to contribute whatever works for your budget. Don’t let the cost keep you from joining us! Your donation supports the RARE (Raptor Advocacy Rehabilitation & Education) program, the Bike Library, Johnson County Conservation, and, of course, the port-a-potty. 🙂

What to Bring

  • Snacks, dinner, and breakfast. We encourage food sharing if you have something small to add to a micro-potluck!
  • Water for the ride to Two Horse Farm
  • Tent and sleeping system
Amrei has several small 2-person tents available to loan. Please inquire!
  • Cooking stove, fuel, and mess kit, as needed for your menu
  • Flashlight and personal hygiene items, including sunscreen
  • Phone battery charger and cable
  • Pad or chair to sit on
  • Bike repair and flat kit
  • Weather-appropriate clothes

Provided by the Organizers

  • Cold drinks: soda, seltzer, and beer
  • A cooler of water for cooking and the return trip
  • Potable water is also available at Two Horse Farm
  • S’mores fixings and roasting sticks
  • Fire pit and firewood

We know it can be expensive to acquire lightweight bikepacking equipment. Don’t let gear be a barrier. Some heavier car-camping gear can travel in the sag wagon, although space is limited, so please give us a heads-up in advance.

Come down to the Bike Library to get your bike ready! Install a rack, look for panniers, or get a tune-up. Many people have panniers and other equipment they’re happy to share.
