Overnight Bikepacking Trip with RAR Philadelphia to Evansburg State Park
September 14 - September 15
FREEParticipants are invited to join an overnight bikepacking trip to Evansburg State Park. Interested individuals can complete the interest form linked below, with priority given to BIPOC riders and others selected randomly.
For those new to bikepacking, an informational session covering bikes, bags, and more will be held on August 17, open to everyone. Further details will be posted soon.
The event will take place from Saturday, September 14 to Sunday, September 15. Participants will meet at 10 AM, with a rollout at 10:15 AM, arriving in Evansburg in the late afternoon. The route covers approximately 31 miles each way, with an elevation gain of around 915 feet, and will be ridden at a beginner-friendly pace of 10-12 mph. The ride will follow a no-drop policy, but the group may naturally split up at times. Any bike capable of carrying bikepacking supplies and handling some loose gravel along the Schuylkill River and Skippack trails is suitable.
The event is specifically for femme, trans, women, and non-binary individuals. There will be planned stops for snacks and rest, though participants should bring sufficient food, as opportunities to purchase snacks along the route will be limited. The event will take place on Lenni-Lenape land.
This is a no-drop ride, meaning no one will be left behind, and it will proceed at a conversational pace. The event is intended exclusively for FTW NB individuals. Those who do not identify as such but wish to support the cause are encouraged to donate to the specified organization. Masks are not required for fully vaccinated individuals, though participants are encouraged to carry a mask and respect others’ comfort levels, especially in crowded areas.
