Bikepacking Trip to Palmetto State Park with RAR Austin

Freeπ Join RAR.Austin for a 2 day, 1 night bikepacking trip Sat Nov 9 to Sun Nov 10 to Palmetto State Park! This is an intermediate level trip for riders who are trans women and men, non-binary, and cis women. The trip is self-supported and covers 125+ miles over two days (more if you intend to ride to the start!) π Space is limited to 16 people.
π³ Route: Primarily biking on paved roads and some gravel. One way is 65 miles, 2,500 ft elevation from the southeast part of town (RADIO/EAST on Montopolis Dr.) This will be a no drop ride, but there may be points where riders spread out into separate groups. The group will stop before major turns and highway crossings and regroup.
π² Bike: Touring bike, gravel, or cross bike is recommended. This is a self-supported ride with no organized SAG vehicle. Please arrange your own plan B if the trip does not go according to plan.
π Gear: Sleeping system (shelter, sleeping bag, pad), cooking gear, clothing for riding, lounging, and sleeping. Bike lights, bike repair items, bike snacks. If you need to borrow camping and or cycling gear, fill that out on the survey.
π§ Food & Water: During the ride to Palmetto there will be a stop in Lockhart for lunch. On the way back, the group will take a different route and stop in Dale. Organizers recommend packing 1 dinner, 1 breakfast, snacks, and a lunch if not intending to buy lunch in Lockhart/Dale. There is water at camp and along the route.
ποΈ Camping: Two regular-sized sites at Palmetto SP. There are showers, restrooms, and water.
