Biking into and participating in Friends of Black Rock High Rock’s (FBRHR) Perseid Meteor Shower Campout – Members’ Appreciation. This is a supported bikepacking trip with so many options. Starting Friday evening, I will be riding from 12 Mile Playa Access to Meteor Cove (about 7 miles, 4′ elevation).
At Meteor Cove, we can set up camp and prepare for the night’s starry show. Saturday morning I will leave camp at 9 am and meet anyone at 12 Mile Playa Access at 10 to ride in. Some people choose to drive in, a perfectly good option. Saturday is a day and night of events hosted by Friends of Black Rock High Rock. On Sunday morning, I will lead a sunrise ride across the playa to the terminus of the Quinn River. After that, we pack up and return to 12 Mile. Back in Gerlach, I plan on having lunch at Bruno’s Country Club. The weekend averages about 40 miles, depending on the rides you jump in on.
Please sign up on the FBRHR’s website: https://www.blackrockdesert.org/events
