It hops on the historic Pony Express Trail\, and visits 3 different lakes! \nThe Details: July 25th\, park on the north side of the west end of D Street\, then ride over to Tahoe Gear Exchange where the nice folks there will be hosting our start at 9:30am. Quick rider’s meeting\, then we roll out at 10am sharp. \nThis is self-supported overnight bikecamping on gravel and dirt roads in the Tahoe Lake Basin. 51 miles\, with 4015 feet of climbing\, spread over two days. Tires at least 40c or bigger recommended for this terrain. We’ll briefly hop on the Tahoe Rim Trail\, so expect to hike a bike for a few moments\, otherwise you can expect delightful single-track\, some dirt road\, some bike path\, and a lil bit of riding on pavement.\nThis will be dispersed camping following LNT principles\, so bring: food\, sleep system\, a water filter\, and a way to bury your own poop (trowel). “Bear Resistant Containers” are mandatory in the area of Round Lake where we’ll be camping. Many places like Mountain Sports Chico or Taylor Creek Visitor Center rent hard plastic bear cans\, or you can spend big bucks on lighter Ursack/Adotec bags. As always\, this is a casual open-invite trip. No sag\, and no registration or money are required\, but we’ll do our best to make sure nobody is left behind or stranded. Please download the route just in case though. We all wear helmets and ask that you do as well.\nThese rides are at a conversational pace\, and we stick together. If you want to KOM your Strava or impress people by being first up the climb\, don’t bother coming\, as the best of the party is at the back of the pack. \nWe’re super excited to crack the seal on this beautiful area\, and with 3 lakes\, you’ll wanna bring a swim suit. Link to the route is in my bio\, be sure to download it for offline use in one form or another before the trip\, as cell service can be nonexistent in this area\, and this being a new route… even I won’t be 100% sure where we’re going 😂. No gear? No problem we can help you find gear. \nRoute is about 6 chill miles to the campsite. \nThis is one of my favorite bike packing trips to do during the summer. The San Juan Islands are beautiful all year long but specially during the summer! For this trip we do not have a reservation for a campsite\, we may not even find a bike in spot available so people need to be prepared to set their tents in a “public” space on the campsite. The drive to Anacortes is 1 hour and half so make sure to leave with enough time to pay for parking\, unload your bike and meet us on the terminal to get your ticket! The bike ride to our campsite is 6 paved miles with rolling hills. More details about activities in the Island as we get closer to the date of our trip. This project exists because of OTTA’s original vision and years of persistence to make this connection happen. They have championed this corridor from the very beginning\, and we’re honored to help bring it to life alongside them. \nFor two days and one night\, volunteers will camp near Scott Taylor Lake while helping build the Fuji Mountain/Bunchgrass Connector (FUGRASS)\, the final missing link connecting the Fuji Mountain and Bunchgrass trail systems. \nOnce complete\, this new section of singletrack will create a seamless backcountry connection between two of Oakridge’s most iconic riding and hiking destinations\, fulfilling a vision that has been years in the making. It will also become an important link within both the Oregon Timber Trail and the Orogenesis route\, connecting riders and hikers through some of Oregon’s most spectacular backcountry. \nThis landscape has been traveled and cared for by Indigenous peoples since time immemorial and later by generations of explorers\, workers\, and recreationists. Soon\, thanks to the work of volunteers\, it will offer a new way for people to experience this incredible place. \nNow we need your help to finish it. \nEvery foot of trail built this weekend brings us one step closer to opening a connection that volunteers have dreamed about for years. This is more than a trail work party. This summer\, TripOutside and local Durango bikepacker Sam Lewandowski are hosting a four-part workshop series designed to give new and aspiring bikepackers everything they need to get out there with confidence. \nEach workshop tackles a different set of essential bikepacking skills — from fixing a broken chain in the backcountry to planning your own route from scratch. Sessions are hosted at some of Durango’s best local bike and outdoor shops\, keeping groups small (15 or fewer participants) for direct\, hands-on learning. We have resources including trained guides and bikes to loan for youth with disabilities. If you are interested in this option\, please contact us here. \nTrip Description\nHead west on North America’s first successful rails-to-trails conversion\, the Illinois Prairie Path\, to DuPage County. At twenty-seven miles from Oak Park\, this is an accessible low-stress ride\, suitable for beginners and experienced riders. The route is almost entirely on the off-street crushed limestone Illinois Prairie Path (IPP) and Great Western Trail with some street riding to get to the path and street crossings. \nBlackwell Forest Preserve features biking and walking trails\, fishing\, and over 1\,000 species of native plants and animals. The terrain is made up of oak savannas\, prairies\, grasslands\, and wetlands. Day 2 has a water park option at Wheaton’s Aquatic Center (8 miles from the campground). \nWhat’s Included\n\nCampsite and firewood\nDay 1 dinner\, Day 2 breakfast\, lunch\, and dinner. Day 3 breakfast and lunch\nEducation about our local history and nature\nVery welcoming and supportive guides\n\nWhat’s Not Included\n\nFood for Day 1: lunch (please bring a sacked lunch! By registering\, you acknowledge and agree there will not be a refund if you cancel or do not show up for the event. Tickets cannot be resold. \nTransfers: You can transfer three days before the event. You can only transfer to an event in the same calendar year. Fill out this transfer form at least three days before your ride departs\, and we will follow up in a week or less with instructions on how to register for your new event. SUMMARY:Donner Bike Camping Overnighter with Truckee Bikepacking Collective

Truckee/Donner area is BEAUTIFUL\, and riding through the old train tunnels is FUN!\nThe Details: Park at the Safeway in Truckee CA. We roll out at 10am sharp\, then promptly open a magic portal to a beautiful dirty stinky world where time and capitalism no longer exist.\nThis was originally a @truckeebikepackingcollective route that @calliesunshinee then tweaked\, and holy smokes it’s a good one\, with some mellow singletrack\, a couple beautiful little lakes\, an amazing campsite in the shadow of Devil’s Peak\, and the longest abandoned railroad tunnels I’ve ever ridden through! This ride starts with a kicker of a climb\, but only totals 40 miles and +3353 feet of climbing over Saturday and Sunday. \nThis will be self-supported dispersed camping near Cascade Lakes (6700ft elevation)\, following LNT principles\, so bring: food\, sleep system\, a water filter\, a bike light for the tunnels\, and a way to bury your own poop (trowel). As always\, this is a casual open-invite trip. No sag\, and no registration or money is required\, but we’ll try to make sure nobody is left behind or stranded. We all wear helmets and ask that you do as well. \nThese rides are at a conversational pace\, and we stick together. If you want to KOM your Strava or impress people by being first up the climb\, don’t bother coming\, as the best of the party is at the back of the pack. \nThe route link is in my bio. Be sure to download it in one form or another for offline navigation before the trip\, as cell service can be nonexistent in this area\, and if something unforeseen happens\, we want you to be able to navigate back to your vehicle safely. This summer\, TripOutside and local Durango bikepacker Sam Lewandowski are hosting a four-part workshop series designed to give new and aspiring bikepackers everything they need to get out there with confidence. \nEach workshop tackles a different set of essential bikepacking skills — from fixing a broken chain in the backcountry to planning your own route from scratch. Sessions are hosted at some of Durango’s best local bike and outdoor shops\, keeping groups small (15 or fewer participants) for direct\, hands-on learning. It is one of Illinois’ ​most beautiful destinations. The park’s 18 canyons feature vertical walls of moss-covered stone and multiple waterfalls. Formed by glacial melt water that slices dramatically through tree-covered sandstone bluffs\, the Illinois River bluffs in Utica\, Illinois will surely percolate anyone’s curiosity. \nWe will learn about the world’s first major natural waterway reversal in human history as we traverse along the Chicago River\, from the heart of Chicago to the Illinois and Michigan Canal. Cold air starts to sweep across the land when we go back in time to relive a catastrophic flood that occurred between 14\,000 and 18\,000 years ago in the Midwestern United States and reshaped the land. On our off day from biking\, we’ll host a guided hike through the park \nThis is not your average group bike ride. At each break point and along the way\, our guides will immerse and educate in the history\, geography\, architecture and the uniquely beautiful natural habitats and ecosystems of North Eastern Illinois. On the first day\, we take the ferry to Hull and then bike about 65 miles to camp. The next day\, we bike another 65 miles to Ptown. This is a family friendly party. It includes a catered dinner\, live music at the campsite\, and so much more! \nWe will have a variety of start points around the city. And we’ll be providing a truck to haul your gear if you choose the Southside Start Point. \n​ \n$105 for adults. $55 for kids. \nStarting Points and Mileage\nSouthside: Wild Blossom Meadery in Beverly – 20ish mile ride\nThis is the main start point. We will have about 40+ folks starting the ride here at 10am. Neighborhood street parking available overnight. The truck will be here in the morning to load your gear. \nThis is the only start point for families and only start point where gear transport will be available. Riding pace will be 10-12 mph t and about 7-10 mph for the family group. \nCentral: Patagonia Mag Mile Downtown – 40ish mile ride\nThere are 28 spots available for adult riders to start here at 830am. Riding pace will be the usual OOFD overnight pace of about 12 mph. \nWestside: Pedal to the People in West Town – 60ish mile ride\nThere will be 28 spots available for adult riders to start here at 730am. Riding pace will be the usual OOFD overnight pace of 12-15 mph. \nNorthside: Igor Does My Bike in Andersonville- 65ish mile ride\nThere will be 14 spots available for adult riders to start here at 7am. Riding pace will be the usual OOFD overnight pace of 12-15 mph. \nGear Transport\nWe will have a truck only to haul the camping gear of those that choose the Southside Start Point. Folks starting at the North\, West\, and Central start points\, you will need to haul your own gear to camp on your bike. For those starting on the Southside and that are putting gear in the truck\, please be sure to pack it tightly in a bag or bin. And a packing checklist here. \nAbout the Guides\nOur guides are part of a community of volunteers that believe in adventure and helping others find adventure right out our front door. They exude a welcoming\, supportive\, and inclusive spirit which are foundational values at OOFD. They have love and appreciation for their home and like sharing knowledge about that home with others\, thus helping the riders to develop a stronger sense of gratitude for our local history and nature. \nThe guides will be set with the route and an extensive script about the area you’ll be riding through with intentionally chosen breakpoints along the way. \nThey are more than someone to follow on the ride. They are trained and will be there to encourage and support you as well as support with mechanicals that may arise. \nTransfer/Refund/Cancellation Policy\nParticipant Cancellation: No Refunds. By registering\, you acknowledge and agree there will not be a refund if you cancel or do not show up for the event. Tickets cannot be resold. \nTransfers: You can transfer three days before the event. You can only transfer to an event in the same calendar year. Fill out this transfer form at least three days before your ride departs\, and we will follow up in a week or less with instructions on how to register for your new event. Contact us if you have any issues. \nOrganizer Cancellation: Full Refund | Nobody wants an event to be canceled. In the rare circumstance the organizer cancels the event at their discretion\, registered participants will receive a full refund. To date\, this organization has canceled minimal events. \nWeather and Rain: We do not cancel an event for rain\, storm\, or any other weather. We ride rain or shine. Chicago weather is typically passing\, if the weather requires\, we will pause the ride and wait in a sheltered space then continue biking. Some of the best views of the lake and greenery on the trails are after a rainstorm. \nRadical Inclusivity and Non-Discrimination Agreement\nThis is included in your registration form.
