SUMMARY:Overnighter to Colossal Cave with Campfire Cycling and Ortlieb in Arizona
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”teammateRow”][vc_column width=”1/4″ el_class=”teammateImage”][vc_single_image image=”71550″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” css=”” image_hovers=”false”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″ el_class=”teammateDescription”][vc_row_inner el_class=”TeammateContent”][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text css=””]This ride is being offered by the folks at Campfire Cycling. \n\n***If you would like to join this ride but the cost/transportation is prohibitive or you need to borrow gear to make it happen\, please reach out to the folks at Campfire Cycling. \nOn our Community Events/Rides we follow our Campfire Code of Conduct. We strive to create a positive and supportive environment where everyone feels welcome and heard. We don’t assume anyone’s abilities based on outwards appearance. We take responsibility for our actions and words. We respect the land\, it’s original stewards and leave no trace. \nThis ride is brought to you in partnership with Ortlieb. They have sent us some cool raffle prizes to stoke everyone out! If you’re not familiar with Ortlieb\, we’ve carried their product for 17 years and they have been a mainstay of touring bags and commuter gear. They do a fantastic job of making very waterproof\, durable gear and supplying parts for the wear and tear items that can be replaced\, keeping your bags in service for many years! \n3 Route Versions\nWe are excited this year to be offering three versions in one of this ride. This is our first time doing a three in one and it should make for a good time for all! \nIntermediate Route – 32 miles (64 miles total)\nIntermediate and advanced route riders will be leaving Campfire Cycling at around 9:30AM. This group will ride a paved bike path most of the way to Colossal Cave State Park. The route does have some rolling climbs over the last 5 miles. \nBeginner Route – 18 miles (36 miles total)\nFor beginner bikepackers who are looking for a shorter version of the ride (18 miles instead of 32)\, we welcome you to join at mile 14 of our route at Fantasy Island’s north parking area (See Point-of-Interest on the route map). We will be joining with beginner riders at this point. This beginner section is similar in difficulty to our beginner ride that we do from Campfire to Catalina State Park in the Fall. \nAdvanced Route – 46 miles Day 1\, 40 miles Day 2 (86 miles total)\nFor the advanced riders that would like to join us\, we’ve come up with a new version that incorporates in some AZT riding. We part ways with the beginner and intermediate riders to navigate through fantasy island on the trails. The route splits off from the main route in Vail. While a good portion of this route is on pavement\, the AZT section does necessitate a sturdy mountain bike. Day 1 ends with 12.5 miles of trail riding on the AZT. Day 2 begins with 10 more miles on the AZT. The advanced group will likely be arriving to camp quite a bit later then the beginner and intermediate groups\, perhaps as late as 6 or 7pm\, please bring lighting in case we are riding later then anticipated. \nCamping\nWe’ll be staying at the Sevilla group campground with room for 20 tents. Drinking water and pit toilets are available.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]

We respect the land\, it’s original stewards and leave no trace. \nAre You Ready for the Adventure?\nThis ride is brought to you in partnership with Oveja Negra. They have sent us some cool raffle prizes to stoke everyone out! If you’re not familiar with Oveja Negra\, they are a rad outfit where everything is designed and built in Salida\, Colorado. They make fantastic bags in both amazing colors and fantastic utility! \nTo bring things together for our bikepacking ride series\, we’re headed down to do Sarah Swallow’s Sky Islands Odyssey East Loop. We’ve come up with our own slightly modified version of this fantastic route (Running Clockwise this year). \nThe plan is to park in Amado at the Elephant Head / Anza Trailhead. We’ll ride around 30 miles with 2500+ feet elevation gain and camp near Kentucky Camp. The next day we’ll do another ~45 mile ride including riding down the AZT through Gardner Canyon (option to go around available via Fish Canyon to the 83) with a resupply lunch stop option at Senoita and dry camping off Hershaw Road. For the last day\, we’ll be doing a ~45+ mile ride through Patagonia with an opportunity for resupply as well as breakfast/brunch in Patagonia followed by a big rough climb through Solera Canyon to get back to our vehicles. Plan on being able to carry at least 5-6 Litres of water per day as well as 1.5 days worth of food at a minimum. \nThis ride is advanced bikepacking with Challenging terrain\, steep and rough climbing with hike-a-bike sections\, remoteness and dry camping the 2nd night highlight the challenges. The terrain is mostly gravel roads with some rough and sandy sections as well as some singletrack. We recommend a hardtail mountain bike or a minimum of 50mm tires. \nRide Pace is ride at your own comfortable pace. This is not a race. We generally ride at a party pace with many meetups and stops so we can re-group. Campfire Cycling will always have a mechanic at the back of the ride so no one is “stuck” alone at the back or incase a mechanical issue come up. \nAdditionally cold temperatures during both nights camping at around 4500 feet necessitate colder weather gear. Average lows in Patagonia during February are reported at 30 degrees. So being a little higher up\, anticipate a low of 20 to 25 degrees. A 20 degree bag (or warmer!) and insulated pad\, as well as down jacket\, long underwear and wool socks is the general recommendation though this of course varies depending on how hot or cold you sleep as well as constantly changing weather patterns \nWe will be contacting everyone who signs up for the ride to make sure they are prepared for the challenge. Please sign up if you plan on joining us. \nThe weather can be prohibitive in February\, so if it is overly challenging we may have to cancel. The dirt changes to very sticky peanut mud very quickly! \nRead more about the route HERE \nNonPremium RideWithGPS users can get access to premium features for this route and other Campfire Cycling routes. \n\nGo to CampfireCycling’s Ride with GPS page.\nClick Join Now.\nIf not already signed in\, sign in to your Ride with GPS Account.\nOR Setup a Free Basic Ride with GPS Account.\nYou will now be able to access this route and our Route Library.\n\n***We strongly recommend all participants who do not have offline access to the route on their phone or other navigation devise\, setup a free RideWithGPS account and use the above process to access the route and download it to their phone. \nProtect the land/area that we recreate on. We will be on the traditional lands stewarded and still lived in by the Tohono O’Odham Peoples. Right now the Santa Rita’s are in danger of more damage from large scale mining operations. Learn more and donate here: Sky Islands Alliance\, Patagonia Area Resource Alliance\, Indivisible Tohono\, Save the Scenic Santa Ritas \n*Please note-Route is updated![/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Be sure to register on the AES site if you want in on the fun and @homegrownmtb shuttle. \n\nFormerly the long course of the Antelope Peak Challenge\, it was later turned into its own event beginning at Picketpost and finishing at Tiger Mine Trail Head in Oracle. After participation dwindled (this is a super hard single-day ride with the fastest riders completing it in 12 hours\, and stragglers finishing in 20+)\, the Gila 100 organizers have decided to experiment with breaking this outstanding stretch of the Arizona National Scenic Trail into 2 big\, hefty days of riding. \nSpeaking of the AZT\, please consider donating to the AZT Association! \nBeginning in 2025\, though\, this event will be a point-to-point\, 2-day stage event just like the Coconino 250. This means there will be a coordinated campsite at the end of day 1. Of course\, anyone is welcome to do the full 100-mile event on the Arizona Trail without the camping if they so choose. \nWe will flip the direction every year\, with a 2026 group depart from Picketpost Trailhead and finishing at Tiger Mine Trailhead in Oracle. \n Southbound direction. \nThis is a 92-mile route between the Picket Post trailhead to Tiger Mine Rd on the Arizona Trail. The trail is marked (Arizona Trail the entire way). This route is VERY challenging\, but goes through some outstanding sections of the AZT. If you have the will and ability\, it is worth the effort.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

You don’t have to worry about sleeping outside on this 190+ mile journey as we will be staying both nights at Camp Suwannee which offers options for riders to sleep inside one of two bunkhouses. Since the group will stay at the same camp both nights\, riders can ride on Day 2 with just the supplies needed to complete the day ride. Riders will not have to break down their camps on Saturday morning and can leave their tents until they return to sleep in the evening. \nThis year there will be two options for the route. One with as much Singletrack as possible and one utilizing as many dirt roads as possible. Riders can pick and choose and mix and match. Day 2 will also have a shorter option for riders who would enjoy doing three shorter days versus a long 80-mile day in the middle. \nWhether you’re an experienced cyclist seeking a thrilling challenge or a nature enthusiast craving an escape into the wilderness\, this off-road bicycle tour along the Suwannee River promises an unforgettable adventure. SUMMARY:Waypoints Webinar #4: Pennsylvania’s Newest Bikepacking Destinations

With over 25\,000 miles of dirt and gravel roads and an extensive network of state and federal public lands to explore\, the state is a gem on the East Coast for bikepacking opportunities. Bikepacking Roots is connected with some of the best route creators from the region who have been working on exciting projects in recent years. This episode will feature two talented regional route creators and highlight two new bikepacking destinations in the Keystone State: \n\nDavid Landis\, founder of Village to Village Trails and perhaps best known regionally for creating the TransVirginia Bikepacking Route\, has been busy creating a growing list of new route projects across Pennsylvania and West Virginia.\nHelena Kotala is an avid cartographer and route creator who works for Pennsylvania Environmental Council\, a statewide organization that has hosted a statewide Gravel Summit for the past 3 years.\n\nDuring this webinar\, we will deep dive into the creation of two exciting projects: \nEndless Mountains Gravel Bikepacking Loops: Three bikepacking route options – 110\, 250 or 430 miles take cyclists through four scenic counties of Northeastern PA. The Endless Mountains Heritage Region is home to countless back country dirt roads\, quaint and historic downtowns\, stunning scenic overlooks\, museums and historical societies\, breweries and wineries\, award-winning trails\, state and county parks\, picturesque creeks and streams\, and the majestic Susquehanna River. \nWe will also be joined by Donna Ianonne\, former Sullivan County Commissioner and initial mastermind behind the Endless Mountain Gravel Bikepacking Route as well as Canton\, PA cyclist Eric Schoonover\, to help tell the story of the evolution of the Endless Gravel Community. \nWild Elk Gravel: In the heart of the PA Wilds is the only gravel destination in the Eastern US where 1\,500+ wild elk roam free across vast public lands! This is a place of silent ridgelines\, steep forested valleys and endless gravel. Small communities dot the landscape\, but most miles feel deeply wild and immersive\, with wildlife encounters far more common than cars. The brand new network features a 225-mile bikepacking route and several shorter overnight routes. \nJoin us for a great discussion\, some route inspiration and a chance to get your questions answered from these talented route creators. \n\n\n\nRegister here: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_OZyfybCmQoejlNe5iqvRsA\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:2025 Cross Florida Individual Time Trial with Karlos Bernart (SingleTrack Samurai)
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”teammateRow”][vc_column width=”1/4″ el_class=”teammateImage”][vc_single_image image=”71405″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” css=”” image_hovers=”false”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″ el_class=”teammateDescription”][vc_row_inner el_class=”TeammateContent”][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text css=””] \n>>>>Click Here to Join the Event<<<<< \nThe Cross Florida Individual Time Trial is Florida’s Premier Off-road Ultra Endurance Event. It is a one-of-a-kind-coast-to-coast bikepacking/Ultra Running challenge\, the first of its kind in the United States. \nThere will be no cue sheets provided for this route\, only a GPX file and instructions on how to use the said file. Riders/Runners are required to use a GPS; Garmin Etrex 20 or better is recommended. \nThe route is 300 miles of mixed terrain: Singletrack\, forest road\, paved roads\, bike trails\, double track\, and grassy abandoned easements. This is an at-your-own-risk personal challenge that each rider voluntarily wants to engage in. There is merely a recommended start time for the route\, but riders/runners can start at any time by coordinating their official start times with the event organizer beforehand. \nHonoring the tradition of the ferry crossing\, a boat ride will be available to shuttle riders across the river\, providing the option to take a 50-mile shortcut. This shuttle only runs on the 13th and before Sunset\, so riders wanting to ride the boat have to ride fast to complete the 120-mile journey. \nRoute information will be sent out on October 13th. Once the information is released\, there are no refunds available. \nTracking is established by using a Tracking device. Tracking devices are required for participation as we will be providing an online page to track riders’ progress. We will contact riders to discuss their options on how to be tracked for this event. \nThere will be a shuttle available; spots are limited to the first 30 folks who register for this option. The shuttle will pick up in Inglis\, Florida\, around noon on December 12th and transport riders to New Smyrna Beach. The designated parking spot for shuttle riders is approximately 5 miles from the finish line. The price of the shuttle is 130$; add that ticket option to your cart to secure your spot. Shuttle spots are refundable as long as it’s canceled four weeks before the event start date. \nOn or close to October 13th\, participants will get a link to a Google Drive folder that will contain the guide information and an RWGPS event link that will contain the route. You must allow messages from karlos@singletracksamurai.com to receive this information. If not\, it will go to your spam folder. Route info is licensed per individual and must be downloaded from the Google Drive folder and opened with a compatible program to use and view. \nRules: \n1. You must complete the route under your own power. Once you set foot in a motor-powered vehicle\, you voluntarily withdraw from the challenge. There are exceptions made to this rule in cases of medical emergencies. If you are injured and need help\, get healthy\, and you can rejoin the course at your convenience. \n2. There is a no-drafting rule in effect. \n3. You must be able to carry yourself the length of the route safely. You can only obtain supplies from commercial establishments along or near the route. You cannot pre-arrange any kind of support or supplies\, and no SAG vehicles are allowed. \n4. There will be three checkpoints where you are required to provide photographic evidence for. Some checkpoints may require video documentation. To prove that you passed these areas\, you can either email your pics and videos to Nakedindian@singletracksamurai.com or post them on your Facebook or Instagram for me to see and verify. \n5. You can take as long as you need to complete the challenge; there is no time limit and no cut-offs. Every rider/RUNNER will participate in a mass start if they start with the group on the day of the event. \nYou make a 70$ minimum donation to participate in the event. In return for this donation\, you will receive the route file\, the trail guide\, the waypoint restock file\, and one souvenir. Whether you attend the event or not\, that is what your donation covers; there are NO REFUNDS after the route information is sent on October 13th. \nYour Donation does go a long way to keep me working on new routes and projects\, and maintaining the ever-evolving existing routes and future projects. Generosity is encouraged and generally will provide good luck during the event!!! \nI hope this is the year you decide to give the route a try. \nQuestions? SUMMARY:West Texas Showdown 2025 with Bikes or Death in Terlingua\, Texas - REGISTRATION CLOSED
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”teammateRow”][vc_column width=”1/4″ el_class=”teammateImage”][vc_single_image image=”63857″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” css=”” image_hovers=”false”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″ el_class=”teammateDescription”][vc_row_inner el_class=”TeammateContent”][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text css=””] \nThe West Texas Showdown isn’t just a race — it’s a battle against the desert itself. Big Bend delivers jagged singletrack\, endless horizons\, and conditions as raw as they come. Wild\, unpredictable\, and unforgiving — this is where legends are made. \nThe third stage of the Texas Showdown Series and the crown jewel of the Texas Showdown Triple Crown.  Set in the Big Bend region of Texas\, this event promises to test every ounce of grit\, skill\, and determination. \nThis is mountain desert country — wild\, remote\, and raw. The terrain is rugged\, the weather unpredictable\, and resources are scarce. Nearly everything in the desert either bites\, pinches\, stings\, or grabs. Don’t be scared — but don’t come unprepared. \n\nBig Bend – Home of the Showdown\nBig Bend Ranch State Park and the surrounding desert country embody the spirit of West Texas: wide-open basins framed by volcanic cliffs\, deep canyons carved by the Rio Grande\, and horizons that shift with every mile. \nIt’s one of the most remote places in the lower 48\, where solitude comes naturally and silence is as striking as the scenery. Out here\, self-reliance isn’t optional — it’s survival. By day\, the desert unfolds in stark beauty: ocotillo stretching skyward\, hidden springs tucked into arroyos\, and dirt roads that climb to vistas you’ll never forget. By night\, you’ll ride under one of the darkest skies in North America\, the Milky Way blazing overhead in a show few places on Earth can match. \n\nEvent Options\nShowdown – 420 miles of Glory & Pain\nThis is the flagship route: long\, raw\, and unrelenting. It starts with a paved rollout from Terlingua before plunging straight into the wilds of Big Bend Ranch State Park. Riders will grind up gravel park roads\, hike through rugged arroyos\, and battle through stretches of singletrack where “rideable” depends on your skill\, stamina\, and stubbornness. \nHighlights: \n\nMarfa (Mile ~200): A quirky West Texas art town\, home of the mysterious “Marfa Lights” and the famous Prada “storefront.” A perfect place to refuel and rest.\nPinto Canyon: One of the most dramatic landscapes in Texas. A twisting\, jaw-dropping descent through volcanic cliffs. Sunrise or sunset here is unforgettable.\nRio Grande Stretch: Long paved miles along the border\, with Mexico just across the river. Stunning views and a glimpse of life in the small border towns.\nThe Death Loop: A 50-mile finale north of Terlingua that will test what’s left of your legs and your willpower.\n\nStats: ~420 miles | 63% unpaved / 37% paved \n\nSlowdown – 300 miles of Dust & Determination\nA shorter\, but still fierce route through Big Bend. The Slowdown trims the distance but keeps the character: gravel park roads\, rough country tracks\, stretches of arroyo riding\, and just enough singletrack to keep you honest. This is a full-on bike expedition into one of the harshest and most beautiful places in the country. \nHighlights: \n\nRemote gravel stretches deep inside Big Bend Ranch SP\nRough\, sandy arroyos that force you to wrestle with your bike as much as ride it\nExpansive desert views that make every climb worth it\nJust enough pavement to catch your breath before the dirt pulls you back in\n\nStats: ~300 miles | 58% unpaved / 42% paved \n\nLowdown – The Gateway to Big Bend\nThe Lowdown is our non-competitive\, guided bikepacking group ride — designed to introduce riders to the magic of Big Bend in a more approachable way. Based on the “Otherside of Nowhere” route (Bikepacking.com)\, this three-day adventure is a perfect entry point for bikepacking-curious riders. \nRide leaders and sweepers will help guide the way\, but this is still a self-supported trip. You’ll need to carry your own food\, water\, and camping gear. Along the way you’ll experience the vastness\, solitude\, and starlit skies that make Big Bend unforgettable. \nHighlights: \n\nA loop around the Solitario\, a giant collapsed volcanic dome that feels like another planet\nLong stretches of gravel roads and dry arroyos inside Big Bend Ranch SP\nNights spent under some of the darkest skies in North America\n\nStats: ~111 miles over 3 days | 80% unpaved / 20% paved \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]
