SUMMARY:Trail of Tears Remembrance Ride
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”teammateRow”][vc_column width=”1/4″ el_class=”teammateImage”][vc_single_image image=”73069″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” css=”” image_hovers=”false”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″ el_class=”teammateDescription”][vc_row_inner el_class=”TeammateContent”][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text css=””] \nWe remember the Trail of Tears to acknowledge the humanity of those who suffered and the grave injustice committed against sovereign peoples. This remembrance ride is not about assigning collective modern-day guilt\, but about collective modern-day responsibility. History\, unexamined\, repeats its patterns of dehumanization and marginalization. Remembrance facilitates essential change and discussion. It forces us to examine how systemic power can be used to silence\, displace\, and erase entire cultures. By confronting this legacy\, we open dialogues about ongoing challenges faced by Indigenous communities today. I challenge every rider to be a beacon of hope and change that inspires society. All entry fees will be donated to the Cherokee Nation Foundation. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVisit the event page for more details and to get your tickets. \nThis event is part of Bikepacking Root’s Community Event Calendar\, where we share bikepacking events across the US and Canada. Riders are expected to bring their own camp gear\, food\, bike tools\, and to be able to navigate to and from the campsite in case the group gets separated. SUMMARY:Summer Solstice Bicycle Camping with You Bet! in Nevada City\, California
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”teammateRow”][vc_column width=”1/4″ el_class=”teammateImage”][vc_single_image image=”74084″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” css=”” image_hovers=”false”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″ el_class=”teammateDescription”][vc_column_text css=””] \n  \nThis Summer Solstice we’ll be joining You Bet Bike Shop to pry open a new portal to THE COSMOS! 👁️🌌\nThe Details: June 20th\, parking in the dirt lot across from @_you.bet_ (not in the parking spaces in front of their shop please!) and we roll out at 10am sharp. They have a ton of rad merch\, so show up early if you wanna support the shop that designed this sweet route for us. \nThis is self-supported overnight bikecamping on gravel and dirt roads in the Tahoe National Forest area. Only 35 miles total\, but with 4900 feet of climbing\, spread over two days. Tires at least 40c or bigger are recommended for this terrain\, and bring your climbing gears for this one.\nThis will be dispersed camping following LNT principles\, so bring: food\, sleep system\, a water filter\, and a way to bury your own poop (trowel). As always\, this is a casual open-invite trip. \nNo sag\, and no registration or money are required\, but we’ll do our best to make sure nobody is left behind or stranded. Please download the route just in case though. We all wear helmets and ask that you do as well. \nThese rides are at a conversational pace\, and we stick together. If you want to KOM your Strava or impress people by being first up the climb\, don’t bother coming\, as the best of the party is at the back of the pack. \nThis is one of our most popular trips of the summer\, with a couple lovely swim stops on the Yuba River. Link to the route is in my bio\, so be sure to download it in one form or another before the trip\, as cell service can be nonexistent in this area. Don’t hesitate to jump into our DM’s for questions\, and we hope to see you there! \nThis event is part of BIkepacking Root’s Community Event Calendar\, where we share bikepacking events across the US and Canada. Bikepacking Roots is not involved in the hosting of this event unless otherwise noted. Please reach out to the organizer for more information.  \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Or maybe you’ve already hit the trail and want to sharpen your skills? This summer\, TripOutside and local Durango bikepacker Sam Lewandowski are hosting a four-part workshop series designed to give new and aspiring bikepackers everything they need to get out there with confidence. \nEach workshop tackles a different set of essential bikepacking skills — from fixing a broken chain in the backcountry to planning your own route from scratch. Sessions are hosted at some of Durango’s best local bike and outdoor shops\, keeping groups small (15 or fewer participants) for direct\, hands-on learning. The series is aimed toward women but open to anyone who wants to learn. \nRegistration for each workshop requires a donation (suggested $10+) to Bikepacking Roots\, a nonprofit that has spent nearly a decade mapping and stewarding over 35\,000 miles of bikepacking routes across the country. Every dollar goes directly toward protecting the public lands and routes we all ride. If you donate $10 or more\, you are entered into a Grand Prize Sweepstakes to win an Otso Fenrir Ti custom-built bikepacking bike. \n\nBackcountry Bike Repair June 17 | 6:30 – 8:00 PM | 2nd Ave Sports\, Durango\, CO Learn how to handle the most common mechanical issues you’ll face on a backcountry bikepacking trip. Professional mechanics from 2nd Ave Sports walk you through brake adjustments\, drivetrain repairs\, tire plugging\, spoke issues\, and more. Topics include what to keep in your repair kit\, adjusting and troubleshooting brakes and derailleurs\, fixing a broken chain\, plugging a tire\, handling a sidewall tear\, and emergency field repairs for racks and pedals. Ends with open Q&A. \nThis event is part of Bikepacking Roots’ Community Event Calendar\, where we share bikepacking events across the US and Canada. You’ll stay at Beckwourth Peak High Camp\, an off-grid glampsite on Beckwourth Peak (with hot showers and bathrooms) and share delicious\, catered meals and campfires with other riders. Tent camping (included) and glamping (extra) options are available. \n\nDay 1: ride from Truckee to Beckwourth Peak High Camp (44\, 66\, or 77 miles)\nDay 2: ride a loop up to the Sierra Buttes – top out at either Gold Lake or Mills Peak Lookout (50 or 57 miles)\nDay 3: ride back to Truckee (44 or 61 miles)\n\nThe rides are unsupported (we provide only suggested routes; no support)\, but you’ll experience plenty of pampering over the weekend… We’ll shuttle one duffel bag (tent\, clothes\, towel\, etc.) for you to/from High Camp. At High Camp\, you’ll enjoy hot showers\, catered dinners\, breakfasts\, snacks to take on your ride\, campfires\, a disc golf course\, and camaraderie with other riders. The experience is designed for both seasoned and newer riders who enjoy beautiful routes and hanging out with other humans. \nThe suggested routes showcase the beauty of the Lost Sierra using mainly forest service and quiet\, rural roads (60% gravel / 40% pavement). And there are some short sections of gravel-bike-friendly singletrack. The routes are challenging\, but you will have plenty of time to ride at a social pace\, take breaks\, enjoy the views\, and stop for lunch. Of course\, we strongly recommend training for the event\, so you can enjoy the rides vs going into survival mode each day. \n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Expect a journey that’s challenging\, varied\, and beautiful — where forest\, water\, and weather conspire to keep you humble and inspired in equal measure. This off-road adventure threads together rugged trails\, remote forest roads\, and rough backcountry connectors — mostly unpaved\, with short stretches of pavement to link it all together. The route connects the Richardson–Zlogar Cabin area in Northfield\, MA to Barre\, MA\, with two overnights along the way. \nVisit the event page for more details and to register. \nThis event is part of Bikepacking Root’s Community Event Calendar\, where we share bikepacking events across the US and Canada.
