Each campout will be in a different location and somewhere along or close to the Stagecoach 400 route. \nIf you’re new to bikepacking or very experienced\, we have options for almost everyone. \nThis year’s Fall Equinox Campout will starting from the shop and ride to the Sweetwater Summit Campground. \nWe will leave from the shop after closing that Saturday at 3 pm and should get to camp around 5 / 5:30pm with enough light to set up camp. \nSee the complete 2-day route: Click Here \nWhen we get to camp\, you can unload your bike and set up tents\, etc. Once everyone is settled\, there will be optional loops for those needing some more miles. Be sure to bring lights too. \nThe Sweetwater bike park is also right next to the campground\, so it could be fun to go ride some laps there or just relax in camp. Something for everyone! \nThe next morning will be a casual roll-out on an alternative route back to the shop. This route will be slightly longer and end with a possible ferry ride across the bay from Coronado to Downtown. \nSince this campout is in town\, there are lots of ways to get back to the shop. In past years\, we even had people join only for the evening and then ride back home that night. It’s about 20 very mellow\, mostly paved miles. \nThe ride is completely self-supported\, so come prepared. Have a backup plan/support car/exit strategy/etc… if you’re questioning if you can make it or not. Make sure you know your limits and abilities. We want everyone to have fun! \nFood and drink: There is water\, electricity\, restrooms\, and coin showers at the campground. We will bring some snacks and drinks to share\, but you are responsible for bringing your dinner and breakfast.  There will be some places to stop for food/drinks on the way down. The closest stores/restaurants are across the street from the golf course. \nShuttling gear: We will have one vehicle driving\, so if you want us to shuttle any gear or food\, you’re welcome to drop it by the shop BEFORE that Saturday. \n***NOTE: There will not be a support vehicle driving down that afternoon\, so all shuttle gear must be dropped off before closing that Friday*** \nAny questions\, please don’t hesitate to ask! \n***Spots are limited\, so please RSVP so we can have a proper headcount. This will be a 3-day trip traversing around 45-50 miles a day to cover the 124-mile loop and make a shorter last day. We’re picking this time of year as it will be a perfect time to escape the long summer heat of Tucson. Flagstaff this time of year is wonderful with the coming fall in the air\, and usually past the monsoons. \nThis will be a challenging ride with plenty of climbing and rough terrain. \nFor the rougher roads out there\, we recommend Mountain bikes with 2.23″ tires or bigger. The fire roads can be deceivingly rough\, and there will be some singletrack. While this ride can be done on a big\, tired gravel bike\, it does get chunky\, though\, and a front-suspension hard tail is likely the preferred bike of choice for most cyclists. \nThere are also relatively few resupply points for water and none for food. We’ll pass through some cattle and storage tanks\, but there won’t be any stores until we get back to Flagstaff. There will be no reliable water between Mile 53 and 97 (Sunset Crater)\, so we must keep that in mind. \nWe recommend a carrying capacity of a minimum of 6 liters of water. \nWith our 8 am departure time on Friday\, we recommend driving up the night before. Breakfast is on your own. The details: Park at @yubaexpeditions in Quincy\, California (leave plenty of room around their shuttles!). \nWe roll out at 9 am sharp\, then crack open the usual magic portal to a beautiful\, dirty\, stinky world where time and capitalism no longer exist. \nThis will be a killer time of year to ride gravel roads through Plumas National Forest\, totaling 40 miles and +3916 feet of climbing over Saturday and Sunday. \nThis will be self-supported dispersed camping at Silver Lake (great swimming!) following Leave No Trace principles\, so bring: food\, sleep system\, a water filter\, and a way to bury your own poop (trowel). As always\, this is a casual open-invite trip. No sag\, and no registration or money required\, but we’ll try to make sure nobody is left behind or stranded. We all wear helmets and ask that you do as well. \nThese rides are at a conversational pace\, and we stick together. If you want to KOM your Strava or impress people by being first up the climb\, don’t bother coming\, as the best of the party is at the back of the pack. \nThe route link is in my bio. Be sure to download it in one form or another for offline navigation before the trip\, as cell service can be nonexistent in this area\, and if something unforeseen happens\, we want you to be able to navigate back to your vehicle safely. The route is designed for first-time bikepackers with low mileage and friendly terrain. \n🐢 We give this trip our Turtle rating as it is less than 25 miles each day\, mostly on graded bikeways and flat coastal roads. \n🐩 The terrain both days gets the Poodle rating because the route is 100% on smooth paved roads. \n🚲Previous bikepacking experience is NOT needed; first-time bikepackers are encouraged! A road bike or gravel bike is ideal for this route. \n🙂This is a guided trip with ride leads and sweeps\, but there is no sag or outside vehicle support on this ride. All campers are responsible for themselves and their decisions. Riders are responsible for ensuring their bikes are tuned-up and ready to ride. \n🌼To create a more accessible registration process\, we introduced a lottery system this year to give more folks a chance to register and help ensure that spots are distributed more equitably. In line with our mission\, we will be prioritizing 50% of our campout lottery spots for BIPOC\, transgender\, and gender expansive riders. Learn about the history and ecology of the Kankakee area while cruising along this beautiful and rustic web of trails and small towns of Will and Kankakee counties. \nDay two will be a bit more chill with some free time to explore the state park or the town of Kankakee which has a ton to offer including the second Dairy Queen in the nation\, a dog stick library\, and even caves! After some morning exploring\, the group will hit the road in the early afternoon to ride the 30ish miles back to Joliet to catch the Rock Island Metra back to Chicago. \nSome of the trails and roads that this ride covers are fine to medium gravel so it’s a good idea to make sure your tires are in good condition. The routes are centered around the state capital and are composed of singletrack\, scenic double track\, coastal levees\, and forest roads. \nThere are four routes available. \nThe Tango Original 165 – This route offers many of the same features of the 177 route\, just by passes Aucilla. \nThe Tango 177 – Takes riders on the Eastern Side of the Aucilla River and offers riders options to see some of Florida’s Finest Rapids. \nThe Tango 277 – features all the awesomeness of the 177 route but offers riders a chance to go through Tate’s Hell and Back! \nThe Tango LiTe\, aka the Tango through Hell 230 miles\, is a mostly Gravel Route option for those riders wanting to see this beautiful area and avoid 99% of the singletrack found on the original route. LiTe does not mean easy. \nWhat you are purchasing is the route information. Once you purchase that info\, it is yours to use and ride the route at your leisure. Everyone who purchases the route information will be invited to participate in the kick-off event that marks the official beginning of the Florida Bikepacking season. Route information will be sent on August 1st. Once the information is sent\, no refunds can be offered\, and there is no changing of routes unless you purchase that additional information. In other words\, plenty of time to make up your mind! Again\, what you are purchasing is the information; there is no transfer or refunds after August 1st. \nWe ride this route for enjoyment and appreciation of the beautiful wildlife corridors located in the area. For fun\, riders can choose to have their finishing times compared to other participants. Both routes are 100% paved. \nA road bike\, touring\, or gravel bike is ideal for this route. \n🚲Previous bikepacking experience is NOT needed; first-time bikepackers are encouraged! \n🙂This is a guided trip with ride leads and sweeps\, but there is no sag or outside vehicle support on this ride. All campers are responsible for themselves and their decisions. (Yes\, I’ll also have a Concrete Revolt vendor booth with up-cycled fashion) \nWe bike on Friday AM\, Oct 17th\, and arrive Friday afternoon (Approx 65 Miles). We will camp in the main field with access to camp showers and water. \nMust Bring:  \n-Bike loaded with sleeping gear and a tent. (Some gear is available on loan from the Concrete Trails Gear Closet\, located at Principles Coffee in Brooklyn)  \n-Bike tools (some of us will have tools for group use).  \n-Money for food\, snacks. Food trucks are on premises Saturday and Sunday at the Mountain Bike Festival. (We will be camped right near them)  \n-Extra clothes and toiletries. For example\, soap\, shampoo\, and a toothbrush. Warmer layers like thermals or a down jacket.  \nNote 1: There will be a train route back to NYC on Sunday via the LIRR trains\, and someone will be leading this group back to the train station from the camp.  \nNote 2: For $20\, you will have a guided lead bike ride to Long Island. We are looking to build a group of 12 for safe riding in NYC traffic. A regional ride through the woods and prairies that lie beyond Chicago. But before the group gets there… house pumpkins\, gourds\, and cider fill the north shore communities\, as the group travels north and feasts eyes upon architectural masterpieces. \nLearn about the towns\, the lay of the land\, and the unique ecosystems along the way\, as organizers drop knowledge on top of your noggins at each breakpoint. \nThe group will ride to and camp on the youngest land in the state at Illinois Beach State Park\, discover the Dead River\, go on a guided nature walk\, and learn what the Chicago area looked like before European settlement. And what better way to end our first day of riding than to relax around a campfire\, on a cool night with warm apple cider on the shores of Lake Michigan. \nDay two\, you can choose to do the 55 mile return along the Desplaines River Trail\, or just hop on the Metra train just outside of the campground. SUMMARY:Beginner Overnighter to Catalina State Park with Campfire Cycling in Arizona

We’ll be staying at a group campground with room for 20 tents. \nOn our Community Events/Rides\, we follow our Campfire Code of Conduct. We strive to create a positive and supportive environment where everyone feels welcome and heard. We don’t assume anyone’s abilities based on outward appearance. We take responsibility for our actions and words. We respect the land\, its original stewards\, and leave no trace. \nIf this is your first bikepacking trip\, we are here to help. If you like advise on gear need or want any other advice. We strongly recommend you stop by with your bike or pack up your bike for the trip and bring it by the shop so we can check out your setup and make recommendations as needed. Feel free to set up an appointment or just stop on by. \nWhile this is a beginner oriented bikepacking trip\, everyone is welcome. I’m sure all of the newbies will appreciate having experienced campers along for the ride.  It’s a great opportunity to do a shake down run with new gear or a new to you setup as well as sharing experience\, knowledge and setups. \nThis will be a no drop ride. We ride at a party pace with many stops and chances for regrouping as well as resupply. There is bathrooms and water along the route. Campfire Cycling will also always have a mechanic at the back of the ride so no one is left behind in case trouble arises.
