This is our first time doing a three in one and it should make for a good time for all! \nIntermediate Route – 32 miles\nIntermediate and advanced route riders will be leaving Campfire Cycling at around 9:30 AM. This group will ride a paved bike path most of the way to Colossal Cave State Park. The route does have some rolling climbs over the last 5 miles. \nBeginner Route – 18 miles\nFor beginner bikepackers who are looking for a shorter version of the ride (18 miles instead of 32)\, we welcome you to join at mile 14 of our route at Fantasy Island’s north parking area (See Point-of-Interest on the route map). We will be joining with beginner riders at this point. This beginner section is similar in difficulty to our beginner ride that we do from Campfire to Catalina State Park in the Fall. \nAdvanced Route – 43 miles with AZT\nFor the advanced riders who would like to join\, organizers have come up with a new version that incorporates some AZT riding. The advanced group will part ways with the beginner and intermediate riders to navigate through Fantasy Island on the trails. The route splits off from the main route in Vail. The route here shows as 86 miles because it is the full out and back\, but to compare it to the other two routes\, it is 43 miles one way. While a good portion of this route is on pavement\, the AZT section does necessitate a sturdy mountain bike. The advanced group will likely be arriving at camp quite a bit later than the other groups\, perhaps as late as 6 or 7 pm\, please bring lighting in case we are riding later than anticipated. \nCamping\nThe group is staying at the Sevilla group campground with room for 20 tents. Drinking water and pit toilets are available. \nAbout Riding with Campfire\nOn our Community Events/Rides\, we follow our Campfire Code of Conduct. We strive to create a positive and supportive environment where everyone feels welcome and heard. We don’t assume anyone’s abilities based on outward appearance. We take responsibility for our actions and words. We respect the land\, and its original stewards and leave no trace. \nIf this is your first bikepacking trip\, we are here to help. If you like advice on gear needs or want any other advice we strongly recommend you stop by with your bike or pack up your bike for the trip and bring it by the shop so we can check out your setup and make recommendations as needed. Feel free to set up an appointment or just stop by. \nWhile this is a beginner-oriented bikepacking trip\, everyone is welcome. I’m sure all of the newbies will appreciate having experienced campers along for the ride.  It’s a great opportunity to do a shake-down run with new gear or a new to you setup as well as sharing experience\, knowledge\, and setups. \nThis will be a no-drop ride. We ride at a party pace with many stops and chances for regrouping as well as resupply. Campfire Cycling will also always have a mechanic at the back of the ride so no one is left behind in case trouble arises. There is also food available near the camp. \nPlease be prepared with all of your own camping gear\, food\, and water. This will be semi-remote camping without many supplies nearby. The campground has vault toilets and running water. There are businesses and a grocery store on the route with markets near the entrance/exit of the campground. Rosemont Canadian Company wants to extract and export copper while dumping tons of waste into a mile-wide hole that will seep lots of toxins into our groundwater. The Tohono O’odham Tribe as well as many conservation groups have been fighting this mine for years. Everyone will gather at the start of the parade near 103rd and Western and walk/ride slowly our bike in the parade which ends at 115th Street and Western. Everyone can get creative and have fun waving to the all folks during the parade. \nOnce everyone reaches the end of the parade\, everyone can get some lunch\, and then ride out to Camp Sullivan in Oak Forest to camp\, which is about 12 miles from the end of the parade route. We’ll have dinner and enjoy a fire with some beverages and get up on Monday morning in our tents\, have a light breakfast\, and pedal back to Beverly\, where the parade started. From there\, you can likely join a group to ride back north or even catch a Metra or the Red Line train. \nFor the parade march\, the more the merrier! So there are lots of free tickets if you just want to come and walk with Our Our Front Door in the parade and head home that same day. DESCRIPTION:This event is hosted by Bikepacking Roots Regional Steward Kurt Pitts \nDates: March 22-23\, 2025 \nLocation: St Louis County\, Missouri \nJoin us for a free\, fun\, beginner friendly 45 mile paved loop around west St Louis County Missouri. This is a great chance to try out bikepacking just 25 minutes from downtown St. Louis! You can view the route here. \nIt’s a chance to: \nTake in some of the most scenic roads and greenways in Chesterfield and Wildwood. \nMake new bikepacking friends and build community. \nExpand or develop your bikepacking skills. \nConnect with a Bikepacking Roots Community Steward. \nWho should attend: \nThis event is open to all. This is a beginner friendly ride that is completely paved. We’ll be riding 10.5 miles of Greenway\, with the rest on low traffic public roads\, frequented by local cyclist. Day 1 is 22 miles with 940 ft of gain. Day 2 is 23.5 miles with 831 ft of gain. \nWe’ll be camping at a semi-primitive campsite with a pit latrine and a semi covered shelter for cooking meals and a fire\, but will be 1.5 miles from the visitors center and main camping area with access to water and restrooms. \nThe atmosphere will be supportive and non-competitive\, with the goal of sharing bikepacking and creating a safe and inclusive opportunity to bikepack. This Trip will be led by Jacob and David. \nThis trip does have some challenges to it (sandy loose terrain\, 1 guaranteed water fill). The organizers call it intermediate level and is not advisable as a first-time bike-packing trip. \nThe terrain is mostly gravel roads with some rough and sandy sections. The organizers recommend a minimum of 50mm tires. \nThe group will be riding about 30 miles out to campsite 82 and then about 30 miles back the next day\, passing through Arivaca. \nThe ride will be self-supported and there is no plan for a sag wagon to join us. There will not be water at camp however there is water and restrooms available about 6 miles before camp as well as a sometimes source 2 miles beyond the camp on the second day. The organizers recommend carrying 4 to 6 liters of water. There is also an option of a 20-mile out and back to Sasabe (Where the hell is Sasabe?) at the end of the first day for those who want a little more. \nThe ride will be passing through the borderlands. This is an area of heavy human migration and the organizers recommend reading this article from Sarah Swallow’s Sky Islands page and scrolling down to the “Borders and Human Migration” section and reading through the 3 articles and familiarizing yourselves. If you would like to get involved the organizers recommend that you check out No More Deaths and send them some Donations! \nCampfire Cycling will be contacting everyone who signs up for the ride to make sure they are prepared for the ride. \nParking meeting at the start of the route along West Arivaca Rd. and meeting at 9 AM on Saturday. We’ll have a few of the classics from the last 3 years\, and perhaps a couple new routes we’d love to share with you too… \nAs usual\, all of these overnighters are open invite\, free\, no registration needed\, just show up\, there are no sag or support vehicles (don’t worry\, one of us usually tries to ride caboose\, making sure nobody gets left behind)\, the pace is super chill\, and we like to stop to regroup\, and swim in rivers and lakes. \nThese trips are self-supported\, and the camping is usually dispersed\, which means you’ll need a water filter\, food\, sleep system\, and a way to bury your own poop (trowel). \nWe TRY to make these rides beginner-friendly\, (50 miles/5000ft or less for the whole weekend)\, but this can be remote riding in the mountains\, usually on gravel\, and sometimes on singletrack\, occasionally rugged. \nWe all wear helmets and hope you will too. If you have ANY questions about appropriate bikes or gear or would like more details about a specific ride\, just pop it in the comments or shoot us a DM. \nFor our first trip of the season\, the nice folks at @greenline92 in Chico will be opening up at 8:30 am Saturday to feed us donuts and provide any last-minute bike needs. \nWe’ll have a quick rider’s meeting at 9 am sharp\, then ride out to Butte Creek Canyon. We’ll ride gravel up Centerville Gap (reports are that it’s more rutted than ever after the heavy rains) to Forks Of Butte Creek for dispersed camping on BLM land. \nThere aren’t any stores along the way\, so bring whatever food and drink you need! The first campout of the year is the weekend of April 19 & 20 🏕 🚲 \n🌼Last year\, campouts filled up quickly and had long waitlists. To create a more accessible registration process\, we’re introducing a lottery system. This will give more folks a chance to attend and help ensure that spots are distributed more equitably. \n🎟️To enter into the lottery for the April trip fill out the reg form linked in our bio. Registration for this trip will be open from 3-15 to 3-19. \n🗺️ This month’s route is a multimodal favorite utilizing metrolink\, neighborhood trails\, state park gravel roads\, rails to trails\, and bike paths. The full route is 55 miles with +2700 ft gain and is 47% unpaved. A gravel\, atb\, rigid mtb\, or touring bike with dirt tires 40mm or larger is ideal. \n🐺 We give this route our Wolf rating as it is between 25 and 55 miles each day and day elevation. It is mostly rolling terrain\, with a few sustained climbs and some short punchy grades that may require hike-a-bike. Day 2 is mostly flat with a large amount of paved bike path. \n🦎The terrain\, both days gets the Lizard (dirt & gravel ) rating. Unpaved surfaces range from hard pact to gravel/sand with some rutted and steep up/down sections. Day 1 is a mix of fire roads and double track and tiny bit of blue rated single track\, the paved surfaces both days are primarily bike paths or bike lanes. \n🌻All riders are responsible for themselves and their decisions. This is a guided bike camping trip\, but there is no sag or outside support on this ride for gear. \n💸We are asking for a sliding scale donation of $15- $30 for this trip. Your donation covers the camping fees and helps support our campout program & gear library. . \n💕WWCC is an intentional space to celebrate\, connect\, and center ALL gender-expansive and women riders while creating and expanding pedal powered access to the outdoors. \n🦄*This event is for and by gender-expansive and women riders who identify as trans\, women\, non-binary\, gender and all that identify outside of the gender binary. Water\, toilets and a picnic shelter are available. It is advisable to bring enough food for Friday evening\, Saturday morning and road food for Saturday morning at least. \nSuggested Itinerary \n\nPeople ride from Ottawa on Friday (April 25 or May 2) to a designated camping spot  15 kms from the Champlain Bridge\nFriday camping – participants carry and prepare their own food and drink – bikepacker social in pavilion or around campfire\nThe Saturday ride will pass through Stittsville\, Carleton Place\, Almonte & Pakenham – informal group/individual 89 km ride. A shorter option of ~65 km is available.\nSaturday camping – participants carry and prepare their own food (food from the bbq may be available with pre-order TBD) – beer and non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase on site – bikepacker social. There is a flush toilet and a shower. Bring a tarp if you think you will need overhead cover\, eg.\, in case of rain.\nSunday ride to Ottawa via Arnprior\, Carp & Kanata- Did we say coffee in Arnprior?!?!  Informal group/individual ride ~75 kms with option to shorten (distance back to Friday night camp 65 kms)\nThe link to the updated RWGPS route will be shared once riders have confirmed their participation closer to the date.\nFor out of town riders: It will be possible to drive to the camp spot Friday night\, park for the weekend and ride back to your vehicle Sunday afternoon. Free parking available at the campground.\n\nExperience has shown that the LDW Spring Rallies attract a diverse group of riders for a fun-filled weekend of bikepacking adventure. They are an accessible way to learn more about bikepacking by doing it\, and provide opportunities for a rich exchange across different circles of riders. \nTo keep the “family & friends” vibe going and to avoid overwhelming the facilities at the campgrounds\, each weekend will have a maximum of 35 spots. Join Lichen Bike Tours on this early-season cycling and wilderness camping adventure.  \nThis trip is 4 days and 3 nights\, 200 miles\, and 15\,000+ ft of climbing with 2 sections of hike-a-bike through high passes in the Catskill Mountains.  \nEach night of camping is in wild forest without any toilets or water facilities.  \nThis is a self-supported bikepacking trip\, which means that riders are responsible for carrying their shelter\, sleep\, and cook systems.  \nRide as a group with a sweep so that nobody will be dropped. The route has designated re-group spots so that it doesn’t get too spread out.  \nThis route is strenuous\, but also carefully designed to be ridable. There are zero days of 5000 ft+ climbing\, and just two days of 4000 ft+ climbing. \nEach day has at least one stop in a town for food and groceries.  \nThe Hike-a-Bike section in Sundown Wild Forest is not steep and could be ridden. The Hike-a-Bike section in Halcott Mountain Wild Forest is steep\, but on wide former doubletrack\, and therefore persistence is enough to hike your bike through the pass.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]
