The folks at Wild Wolf Collective are focused on using these events to grow intentional\, accessible\, and welcoming spaces in the outdoors for gender expansive and women individuals. \n🚙 🏕️ This is a car camping trip/nature retreat for gender expansive and women campers with day rides and activities. \nThis trip is a 3 day 2 night ‘choose your own mild or wild adventure\,’ with great hiking\, road cycling\, gravel riding\, cross-country mountain biking\, the bike park\, rock climbing\, and lake hangs all within reach from camp. Or chill at camp and relax under the pines. There is something for everyone. Bring any bike or no bike. \nEach night we’ll gather together to eat potluck dinners and share the day’s adventures. \nThe organizers have secured an amazing group site this year\, just down the road from where they have camped in the past. The site sits at around 7\,000 ft in a pine forest and is close to the trails and a quick ride to the lake or town. \nTickets for the event are $35\, which covers Friday and Saturday night camping and a curated digital booklet of bike routes and local activities\, as well as some light programming. Campers will need to provide all their own camp equipment or make arrangements with us ahead of time to borrow camping gear. Our gear library has tents\, sleeping bags\, and 4 adventure bikes available to borrow. \n*This event is for and by riders those who identify as non binary\, gender fluid\, trans\, femme\, women\, agender\, gender queer\, and all that identify outside of the gender binary. We will stay at Starved Rock State Park Campground (IL DNR) located in the State Park at Utica Township\, IL 61372 (map). \nPace: 12-15mph \nTrail/Route: Trail/Route: Mixed terrain w/paved road\, smooth limestone\, and gravel. \nAge: Adult Ride (21+) \nTrip Description\nOne of the most beloved jewels near Chicagoland is Starved Rock State Park. It is one of Illinois’ ​most beautiful destinations. The park’s 18 canyons feature vertical walls of moss-covered stone and multiple waterfalls. Formed by glacial melt water that slices dramatically through tree-covered sandstone bluffs\, the Illinois River bluffs in Utica\, Illinois will surely percolate anyone’s curiosity. \nThe group will learn about the world’s first major natural waterway reversal in human history as we traverse along the Chicago River\, from the heart of Chicago to the Illinois and Michigan Canal. Cold air starts to sweep across the land when the group will go back in time to relive a catastrophic flood that occurred between 14\,000 and 18\,000 years ago in the Midwestern United States and reshaped the land. On our off day from biking\, the organizers will host a guided hike through the park \nThis is not your average group bike ride. At each break point and along the way\, our guides will immerse and educate in the history\, geography\, architecture and the uniquely beautiful natural habitats and ecosystems of North Eastern Illinois.
