SUMMARY:Vermont Bikepackers Community Campout
DESCRIPTION:This event is hosted by Bikepacking Roots Regional Stewards Alex Getty & Ashley Rosemeyer in partnership with Vermont Bikepackers. \nDates: August 15-17\, 2025 \nLocation: Poultney\, VT \nBuilding on the success of our campout last year\, this year’s campout will be based at Trailhouse in Poultney\, and have options for both beginner and intermediate riders\, and a chance to ride or drive to the campout! \nIt’s a chance to: \nRide through the beautiful Slate Valley\, home of Slate Valley Trails\, which has become one of the State’s largest XC singletrack networks. This area has also become a destination for many bike riders as the local towns and landowners have invested in bike infrastructure such as multi-use trails and bike paths – so we’ll have a chance to ride through a variety of landscapes and surfaces. \nMake new bikepacking friends and build community. \nExpand or develop your bikepacking skills. \nConnect with  Bikepacking Roots Community Stewards. \nWho should attend: \nThis event is open to all\, with both beginner friendly and intermediate options. \nThe atmosphere will be supportive and non-competitive\, with the goal of sharing bikepacking and creating a safe and inclusive opportunity to bikepack. You bring your bike\, gear\, food and self-sufficient riding skills and we’ll bring the community and camaraderie. \nWhat will the weekend look like? \nFriday 8/15 \n\nOption one: Meet at 4pm for a 10 mile group ride from Castleton Park and Ride to the Trailhouse\nOption two: Drive or ride on your own to the Trailhouse around 5pm\nGroup camp set up\, individual dinners\, hang out time. \n\nSaturday 8/16:  \n\nCook breakfast\, and get yourself and your bike ready for the day.\nRides:\n\nOption 1: A beginner day ride of 26 miles\, 1900’ elevation gain\nOption 2: Intermediate ride of 50 miles\, 4600’ elevation gain\n\n\nBoth rides will be going through town with resupply options for food and water. Each ride will also be going by several points of interest such as swimming holes\, and llamas!\nAll rides will finish back at the Trailhouse late in the afternoon\, and we’ll have a communal dinner where you can bring your own supplies. Pizza will also be available for purchase. \nOnce folks are being fed\, we’ll dive into different topics of discussion and presentation such as first aid on the trail\, maintenance\, nutrition and hydration\, bags and bike setups\, and route making.\n\nSunday 8/17 \n\nCook breakfast\, and get yourself and your bike ready for the day.\nRide (all riders): 20 miles\, 1400’ elevation gain\nReturn to the Trailhouse by early afternoon.\nDepart by 2pm\, Intermediate riders ride back to Park and Ride\n\nAdditional details and packing list will be sent out after you register. \nThe campout is free to attend but registration is required. \nRegister here!

All participants need to sign a waiver acknowledging the nature of these trips and plan to be self-sufficient. \nBike bags are available to borrow through Dark Sky Bikepacking lending library and bikes are available to rent through The Trailhead Bicycles. DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”teammateRow”][vc_column width=”1/4″ el_class=”teammateImage”][vc_single_image image=”71448″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” css=”” image_hovers=”false”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″ el_class=”teammateDescription”][vc_row_inner el_class=”TeammateContent”][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text css=””] \n\n\n\nJoin Orogenesis and Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance as we sample the fruits of our labor restoring the Klickitat Sisters Trail over the past three years. \nDAY ONE: 25 miles (7mi trail)\, +6\,000’ \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis intermediate to advanced group ride starts and ends in Packwood\, WA\, and climbs following the Loowit Tier on gravel roads before transitioning to the Klickitat Sisters Trail and our campsite on the banks of St John Lake high on the ridgeline. We will be dispersed camping without potable water\, bathrooms\, or cell service. Be prepared to be self-sufficient: filter your water\, bury your poop\, prepare your own meals\, and fix mechanical issues. This is a no-drop ride\, but we have a lot of climbing on day one\, so be sure you can cover the distance. \nDAY TWO: 21 miles (5mi trail)\, +900’ \nOur second day is much easier as we return to Packwood along the rest of the Klickitat Sisters Trail and gravel roads\, descending back into the valley for a party at Longmire Springs Brewing on Sunday evening. \nDrop us a line if you have any questions. This overnighter is a joint effort with the Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance. \nHome of the Cowlitz and Klickitat people \n\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]
