DESCRIPTION:UPDATE FROM RAR ATLANTA \nDue to the devastation left in the wake of Hurricane Helene\, RAR Atlanta has made the tough decision to postpone the fall overnight bikepacking trip scheduled for this weekend. Some organizations who have been leading the donation efforts are tagged in this post. \nWe send our love to our @rar.asheville family and look forward to partnering with you again soon! \nCheck out these organizations for donation guidance:\n@mutualaiddisasterrelief\n@ignitekindred \nRAR Atlanta and RAR Asheville are excited to announce a two-night\, three-day bikepacking trip from Friday\, October 4\, to Sunday\, October 6! \nSign-ups open on August 1\, 2024\, at 10AM EST and will close on August 15. Organizers are announcing this trip well in advance so that you have time to train and prepare. \nOrganizers are trying something new and different this trip! This will be an entirely self-supported bikepacking trip in north Georgia and begins with a mass start at 3PM on Friday\, October 4. \nIf you’ve ridden with Radical Adventure Riders before—which have been no-drop group rides with a support vehicle—this shift may be an adjustment. But organizers hope the change will be a fun one! The goal is to provide you with all the information you need to have a successful bikepacking trip and a great time. \nThe route the organizers have chosen is located halfway between Asheville and Atlanta\, so that members of both communities can join. The group will be riding a 58-mile route over 3 days with 4\,700 feet of climbing through mostly gravel roads and some pavement. The route will start in Cherry Log\, Georgia\, and loop through the stunning scenery around Springer Mountain. It is a doable but challenging route! Organizers strongly suggest having previous bikepacking or long distance cycling experience. A gravel bike with minimum 38mm tires is required. \nThis trip will be entirely self-supported\, meaning that each rider will need to carry all of their own water and gear for two nights and three days. There will not be a dedicated support and gear vehicle (SAG) like organizers usually do on their introductory bikepacking trips. However\, organizers will have ride support on the ride as well as volunteers in vehicles at certain checkpoints along the route in case any issues arise. \nInstead of riding all together in a group\, there will be a mass departure\, with everyone heading out at 3PM on Friday\, October 4. Can’t make the group start? That’s ok there is an option to buy the route\, guide\, and patch to ride the route in the future at your leisure. \nThe Tallahassee Tango routes are the first ultra-endurance bikepacking routes in the Florida panhandle. The routes are centered around the state capital and are composed of singletrack\, scenic double track\, coastal levees\, and forest roads. \nThere are Four routes available. \nThe Tango Original 165 – This route offers many of the same features as the 177 route\, just by passes Aucilla. \nThe Tango 177 – Takes riders through the Aucilla Singletrack and offers riders options to see some of Florida’s Finest Rapids. \nThe Tango 277- Features all the awesomeness of the 177 route\, but offers riders a chance to go through Tate’s Hell and Back! \nThe Tango LiTe\, aka the Tango through Hell – is a mostly Gravel Route option for those riders wanting to see this beautiful area and avoid 99% of the singletrack found on the original route. LiTe does not mean easy. Route mileage is estimated at 234 miles. \nOrganizers are asking for a 50$ Donation that will net all participants a patch\, a route guide\, gpx\, and a waypoint resource file. There will also be a pre-event pizza party and a well-stocked Samurai Camp on Saturday night\, offering riders a chance to party in the woods at no additional cost. \nRiders can also register as a TEAM. TEAM Riders need to purchase each ticket individually\, and when it comes time to register for Trackleaders\, that is when you submit your team information. Team riders and team riders can only share resources and draft off each other. There is a separate qualification for the team category. \nRules: \n1. You must complete the route under your power. Once you set foot in a motored power vehicle\, you voluntarily withdraw from the challenge. \n2. There is a no drafting rule in effect. \n3. You must be able to safely carry yourself the length of the route. You can only obtain supplies from commercial establishments along or near the route. You cannot pre-arrange any kind of support or supplies\, and no SAG vehicles are allowed. You are allowed to reserve camps and hotel rooms ahead of time. \n4. There will be 3 checkpoints\, for which you are required to provide photographic evidence. Some checkpoints may require video documentation. To prove that you passed these areas\, you can either email your pics and videos to Nakedindian@singletracksamurai.com\, or you can post them on your Facebook wall for Karlos to see and verify. \n5. Riders are encouraged to test their limits and finish the route in one BIG PUSH! But there is no penalty for taking a nap or two or sleeping an hour or Three. There are no time cut-offs in effect. Riders can take as long as they need to complete the route. \n6. All Riders will be tracked using Trackleaders. If you own your SPOT tracker OR Garmin INReach or other trackers\, organizers will send out directions on how to sign up and use the device. \nAll proceeds from the event are used to continue the work of organizing amazing one-of-a-kind events and help support the effort to map new routes and steward the existing routes. SUMMARY:Rides with Friends #3 Fly and High Rock Canyons with Kurstin Gerard Graham in Nevada
DESCRIPTION:Meet at 41.140354\, -119.370746\, the start of the route\, about 40 miles from Gerlach. Meet at 10 am. \nDay 1 The group will ride down Willow Creek\, Little Smoky Creek\, and Smoky Canyon through sagebrush grassland that is primarily being used for grazing. The route will pass High Rock Lake and enter Fly Canyon on the Applegate Emigrant trail. The group will explore the wonders of the Potholes on foot. \nThen the group will continue on the Emigrant trail in High Rock Canyon. The walls of the canyon are 500-800 feet above the canyon floor. Post Office Cave and the Garage are two historical highlights. Above Yellow Rock Canyon the route will turn off to Bernards Corrals on a cherry-stem road into the East Fork High Rock Canyon Wilderness Area. \n End of Day 1 35 miles\, 1\,200’ of climbing\, with challenging terrain and water crossings in High Rock Canyon. \nDay 2 The route will descend High Rock Canyon and reverse our route past the mouth of Little High Rock Canyon. The group will meet the stewardship team from Friends of Black Rock High Rock to do a clean-up project at this high impact area. FBRHR will provide all the necessary tools for the job as well as a cooler of snacks and drinks. FBRHR also makes every stewardship project educational and entertaining. DESCRIPTION:Join RAR Fingerlakes for a weekend bike tour / campout! \n*this event is reserved for women\, trans\, femme\, and non-binary folks!*\n\n\nWhen: Saturday\, Oct 12\, 10am to Sunday\, October 13\, late afternoon\n\nWhere: Meet at Bike Walk Tompkins at 10am. The group will be biking about 20 miles with 2\,000 ft elevation through Brooktondate to camp on top of Mount Pleasant. On Sunday we will bike an additional 20 miles and stop for a treat\, and then back to Bike Walk Tompkins by the afternoon.\n\nAmenities / Camping: The campsite (Hoffman Challenge Course) has a bathroom\, firepit\, and yurt. Anyone wishing to sleep in the yurt is welcome! Please plan to bring a sleeping bag and sleeping pad. There will also be lots of room for folks to pitch a tent for camping as well.\n\nFood: On Saturday the group will be stopping by Brookton’s Market for lunch (bring $$$). Organizers are planning to have a group dinner at the campsite (please list any allergies / dietary restrictions in the form below). DESCRIPTION:A 3-Day Bike Camping Adventure for Kids and Families\, Camp Sullivan\nEVENT DETAILS\nStart: will be on the South Side at the historic Beverly Bike and Ski\, one of the oldest bike shops in Chicago. \nMeet: 9:30 am Saturday morning August 5th; Depart: 10:00 am \nRide to and Overnight: Camp Sullivan\, 14630 Oak Park Ave. 60452 \nReturn to start point by Bike 4:30 pm Sunday afternoon August 6th \nRegistration comes with Guided Tour\, Campsites\, a communal heated cabin to warm up in\, and food for all meals from Saturday dinner to Monday lunch. \nYou should plan to bring your tent and camping gear on your bike. Organizers are working with the campground to try and get access to their camp gear library\, but it may be closed for the season by the time this event rolls around. \nDay 1: 20ish Miles | Day 2: 20ish miles \nRidership Level: Easy \nAll Are Welcome \nTRIP DESCRIPTION\nExplore the beauty of the extensive forest preserves in the Southwest Burbs. The group will ride through the Southside neighborhoods of Beverly and Mt. Greenwood and eventually arrive to the Cal Sag Trail. From there\, the group will wind through the trails of the forest preserves. Along the route\, there will be plenty of breaks and will even have a picnic before arriving to Camp Sullivan. \nAs all of Out Our Front Door’s rides celebrate this beautiful corner of the earth we call home\, organizers acknowledge the many people who have lived here before and seek to promote Indigenous perspectives into all we do. This ride is a celebration of this idea in practice. DESCRIPTION:***If you would like to join this ride\, but it is cost prohibitive to do so or if you need to borrow gear to make it happen\, please reach out directly to Campfire Cycling. \nThe group will be leaving Campfire Cycling at 11AM for a 23-mile ride up the loop (Paved bike path) with bathrooms as well as water fountains and options for supplies to Catalina State Park. Organizers have reserved a group campground with room for 20 tents. \nOn Campfire Cycling Community Events/Rides\, organizers follow the Campfire Code of Conduct. Emphasis is placed on creating a positive and supportive environment where everyone feels welcome and heard. Organizers don’t assume anyone’s abilities based on outwards appearance\, and everyone takes responsibility for their actions and words. Riders are expected to respect the land\, it’s original stewards and leave no trace. \nIf this is your first bikepacking trip\, the folks at Campfire Cycling are here to help. If you would like advice on gear need or want any other advice\, the organizers strongly recommend you stop by with your bike or pack up your bike for the trip and bring it by the shop so they can check out your setup and make recommendations as needed. Feel free to set up an appointment or just stop on by. \nWhile this is a beginner oriented bikepacking trip\, everyone is welcome. Organizers are sure all the newbies will appreciate having experienced campers along for the ride. It’s a great opportunity to do a shake down run with new gear or a new to you set up as well as sharing experience\, knowledge and setups. \nThis will be a no drop ride. The group will ride at a party pace with many stops and chances for regrouping as well as resupply. There are bathrooms and water along the route. Campfire Cycling will also always have a mechanic at the back of the ride so no one is left behind in case trouble arises. There is also food available near the camp. \nPlease be prepared with all of your own camping gear\, food and water. There are bathroom facilities (Showers!) and water available at Catalina State Park. There are also Stores and restaurants nearby.

SUMMARY:Donner Bikecamping with Truckee Bikepacking Collective in Truckee\, California
DESCRIPTION:The Details: Park at the Safeway in Truckee CA\, roll out at 10am sharp\, then promptly open a magic portal to a beautiful dirty stinky world where time and capitalism no longer exist. \nThis will be the last bike camping trip of the year\, and holy smokes it’s a good one\, with some mellow singletrack\, a beautiful little lake\, an amazing camp site\, and the longest abandoned railroad tunnels the organizers have ever ridden through! This ride starts with a kicker of a climb\, but only totals 38 miles and +3235 feet of climbing over Saturday and Sunday. \nThis will be self-supported dispersed camping near Cascade Lakes (6700ft elevation)\, following LNT principles\, so bring: food\, a warm sleep system\, a water filter\, a bike light for the tunnels\, and a way to bury your own poop (trowel). As always\, this is a casual open-invite trip. No sag\, and no registration or money required\, but organizers will do their best to make sure nobody is left behind or stranded. The organizers all wear helmets and ask that you do as well. \nThese rides are at a conversational pace\, and the group will stick together. If you want to KOM your Strava or impress people by being first up the climb\, don’t bother coming\, as the best of the party is at the back of the pack. \nThe route link is in my bio. Be sure to download it in one form or another before the trip\, as cell service can be nonexistent in this area. Jump into any of our DM’s for questions or advice\, and hope to see you there! \n*Organizers rode this route in mid-October last year\, and it was warm and divine\, but if it starts raining and snowing\, organizers will call it off.

DESCRIPTION:Save the date for some exciting rides and an overnight trip this fall! All Bodies On Bikes\, ABQ is going bikepacking! 🏕️ \nWith support from Fat Tire Cycles and Albuquerque Single Speed\, this series will get you set up for all things bikepacking! \nThere will be three clinics to prepare your bike and gear for a bikepacking excursion\, the first two held at Fat Tire Cycles in Corrales\, and the third will be a shake out ride to test gear. \nClinic 1 (10/6 @ 10am) is a Loaded Bike Q&A: The organizers will bring some examples of various ways to load your gear and open up the room for any questions you might have. \nClinic 2 (1013 @ 10am) is a bag and gear swap and set-up how to: Bring all your gear and see what works\, what you might need to swap or get help setting up and loading up your bags. \nIn Clinic 3 (10/18 @ 6pm) the group will meet up fully loaded for a short shake out ride to see that everything works out on the bike. In addition to the clinics\, join the organizers for a series of build-up rides to prepare for the bikepacking route. This introduction to bikepacking overnighter will require the cyclist to be able to ride 30 miles over mixed terrain\, and the build-up series can help get you there! DESCRIPTION:Detailed information about this year’s Nutmeg Nor’easter has been released by Ron’s Bikes. The following is from the 2024 Nutmeg Nor’easter Registration Announcement: \nanother world championship of sandal riding is upon us — the 8th annual! wow\, and our toes are still somewhat intact. this year\, like last year\, will be held at Dear Lake Camp in Killingworth Connecticut — enveloped in quaintness and it’s trappings. what deep pleasures in these soft times of bumpy bike rides! \nhere is some media from last year so you can get an idea of what you are getting into \nrons bikes coverage ::: the Radavist coverage ::: Bikepacking.com coverage ::: \nthe biggest change from years past is that there are no “nearly all you can eat” pizza tickets. a few slices is included with your reg for everyone — we pushed our pizza purveyors to the limits last year\, and still didn’t have enough — so we are bringing in more food for purchase from farmer Jess and other vendors. there will be plenty of vegan options for purchase also. \nother than that\, folks from last year should know what to expect (hopefully not more rain!). and folks who are new\, well\, hi! and read on for some details. \nCamp Options: there are Cabins and bunk houses on the premises\, lean-to shelters\, tent camping\, and car camping zones. camp sites and bunk cabins are first come first serve on Friday starting at NOON. \nGetting there: from NYC the metro north to New Haven\, transfer to shoreline east to Clinton. Dear Lake is 5 pleasant miles from the station. Roll on bike service and all. could do the same from Boston I suppose. you can always drive too — there will be plenty of parking\, but we always like to not have tooooo many cars involved. If flying\, Bradley International Airport (BDL) is an hour drive. \nroutes to the event: I make up a few country options each year from the New Haven train station and Clinton train station. Old Saybrook too if you are coming from Boston. those will be emailed by Thursday before the event. \nWhy this date?: this is the weekend when the last fall foliage of New England reaches it’s peak — a farewell in many ways. \nYard Sale Swa(m)p meet:  it’s 10 bucks extra at reg to sell bikes\, parts\, merch\, bespoke wooden dildos etc. There will be a special designated covered area for this part of the event in the great hall. 25 vendor tickets are available — 8ft folding table included. there will be wifi in this area this year to make electronic payments easier. \nClasses: We’ve had some good skill shares over the years — if you have a course you’d like to teach\, then reach out to Tenzin@ronsbikes.com \nFood: our olde friends Fire in the Kitchen will be tossing pizza pies for the 8th year in a row on Saturday night for the pizza party. there will be enough for everyone to have a few slices. We will have Jess from the farm and food trucks of sorts for Friday\, Saturday\, and Sunday too. there are Stop & Shops with decent natural foods sections nearby in both Madison CT and Clinton CT 5 miles from the event space. There will be camp fires and your camp stoves to cook other things and make coffee etc. \nCoffee: any baristas want to set up for espresso drinks? let me know. we will also have the giant percolators going as usual for this with less discerning tastes. \nWeather:  generally we want to expect cracker Jack 60-70 F and sunny with Southern New England fall foliage at its absolute peak gloriousness. that being said\, it can also be a deluge as we found out last year. you made it work! \nRain Date?:  nope! we made it through last year — rain or shine\, this spot has enough roofs and good folks to make it a time to be had regardless of weather.  It’s New England! \nToilets: there are a whole lot of them on the premises \nWater: there is potable well water at site \nShowers: bring some wet wipes! there are also showers on the premises\, and perhaps rain to stand out in. \nKid Friendly?: no kids\, sorry. \ne-bikes: no ebikes\, sorry. the trails do not allow them in the area. \nrefunds: sorry\, no refunds\, but if you need to transfer your reg to someone else\, you can do it via bike reg. \nRoutes: there will be 3-5 of them ranging from an easy country road spin with a stop at the beach to rugged class 4 roads and lots of trail that you might think is hiking trail because it is. I will post the routes the week before the event along with the suggested tire size. you can do as many of the routes as you’d like. \nAid stations: there will be no aid stations or external support once you leave the venue location. the gpx routes will be enriched with waypoints showing you where to get water and food while you are out\, but you are on your own for the most part. \nNavigation: highly recommend a head unit or some way to strap your phone to your handlebar as the courses will not be marked\, and there are a lot of turns and easy ways to get really turned around out there. I would not recommend anyone going out on one of the longer rides without a head unit. \nRegistration: OPEN NOW at bike reg \nhope everyone has a good month! stay tuned to reg emails for more\, and I will try and answer any questions in the comments.

SUMMARY:October Bike Campout with the Wild Wolf Cycling Collective in California - WAITLIST
DESCRIPTION:UPDATE: This trip is currently at capacity x 2 with a waitlist 😱 \n🍁 🚲 Last Wild Wolf campout of the year 🎃 🍂 \nThis 🐢 🐩 route takes riders from LA to Ventura via metrolink and from Ventura to Lake Casitas via the Ojai bike path and some rural roads with a small amount of sustained climbing. \nRoute stats:\n🐢 🐩 Day one is 23ish miles with 900ft elevation gain and 100% paved. \n🐢 🐩 Day two is 23ish miles with 500ft elevation gain and 100% paved. \nThis trip is first time camper and pannier/road bike friendly for riders comfortable with 25 mile days and a bit of hills. A bike with a good range of gears is recommended. \nPriority spots will be given to first time and emerging campers as well as bipoc and gender expansive riders with camp and transportation fellowships available. \nOur gear library is available to get new campers set up. \n🦎 🐺 🐐 Friday 2 night option is available for experienced campers and lone wolves. \nWild Wolf Cycling Collective (WWCC) is an intentional space to celebrate\, connect\, and center ALL gender expansive and women riders while creating and expanding pedal powered access to the outdoors. \nFellowships covering camp and metrolink costs as well as additions to our gear library are made possible thanks to a grant from @adventurecycling \n🦄 *This event is for a by gender expansive and women riders who identify as non-binary\, gender queer\, gender fluid\, trans\, femme\, women\, intersex\, agender\, two spirited and all that identify outside of the gender binary. SUMMARY:Bike Camping with All Bodies On Bikes in Northwest Arkansas
DESCRIPTION:All Bodies On Bikes\, NW Arkansas for a bike camping overnighter! Starting near downtown Bentonville (exact location coming soon)\, the group will ride 6 miles on gravel to Bike Camp Pea Ridge and camp there overnight\, returning to the starting location in the morning. \nCampers need to bring all of their own camping gear\, however\, there will be some equipment available to loan if needed. Campers are encouraged to carry their own gear\, however a support vehicle will be available for any gear that isn’t able to be carried on your bicycle. \nAll Bodies on Bikes will provide the route\, light refreshments and snacks at camp\, campfire wood and s’mores supplies. Campers should bring their own dinner\, breakfast\, and snacks. A store is available within biking distance to camp\, and pizza will be ordered for those who are interested in a pizza dinner. \nPlease register in advance here. \n$10 Registration fee per person covers campsite\, firewood & s’mores \nStarting Location: Coming Soon \nRideWithGPS Route \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFAQ: \nCan I bring my kids? \nKids are welcome\, however\, all riders need to independently be able to ride 6 miles each way on gravel roads. \nWhat kind of bike should I ride? \nA bike that is capable of riding on gravel roads (Sugar Creek is our main road) and carrying your gear. A gravel bike will work best\, but a mountain bike or hybrid with wide tires will also work. Please get in touch if you have specific questions about your bike. \nWhat should I pack? \nWe like this packing list from Swift Industries for a bike overnighter.
