SUMMARY:Waypoints Webinar #4: Pennsylvania’s Newest Bikepacking Destinations
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”teammateRow”][vc_column width=”1/4″ el_class=”teammateImage”][vc_single_image image=”72234″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” css=”” image_hovers=”false”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″ el_class=”teammateDescription”][vc_row_inner el_class=”TeammateContent”][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text css=””] \n\n\n\n\nThe Bikepacking Roots’ Waypoints Webinar series is aimed at inspiring riders to get out on the amazing routes across Bikepacking Roots’ route collection. \nThis episode highlights some of the amazing work on bikepacking route development happening all across the state of Pennsylvania. With over 25\,000 miles of dirt and gravel roads and an extensive network of state and federal public lands to explore\, the state is a gem on the East Coast for bikepacking opportunities. Bikepacking Roots is connected with some of the best route creators from the region who have been working on exciting projects in recent years. This episode will feature two talented regional route creators and highlight two new bikepacking destinations in the Keystone State: \n\nDavid Landis\, founder of Village to Village Trails and perhaps best known regionally for creating the TransVirginia Bikepacking Route\, has been busy creating a growing list of new route projects across Pennsylvania and West Virginia.\nHelena Kotala is an avid cartographer and route creator who works for Pennsylvania Environmental Council\, a statewide organization that has hosted a statewide Gravel Summit for the past 3 years.\n\nDuring this webinar\, we will deep dive into the creation of two exciting projects: \nEndless Mountains Gravel Bikepacking Loops: Three bikepacking route options – 110\, 250 or 430 miles take cyclists through four scenic counties of Northeastern PA. The Endless Mountains Heritage Region is home to countless back country dirt roads\, quaint and historic downtowns\, stunning scenic overlooks\, museums and historical societies\, breweries and wineries\, award-winning trails\, state and county parks\, picturesque creeks and streams\, and the majestic Susquehanna River. \nWe will also be joined by Donna Ianonne\, former Sullivan County Commissioner and initial mastermind behind the Endless Mountain Gravel Bikepacking Route as well as Canton\, PA cyclist Eric Schoonover\, to help tell the story of the evolution of the Endless Gravel Community. \nWild Elk Gravel: In the heart of the PA Wilds is the only gravel destination in the Eastern US where 1\,500+ wild elk roam free across vast public lands! This is a place of silent ridgelines\, steep forested valleys and endless gravel. Small communities dot the landscape\, but most miles feel deeply wild and immersive\, with wildlife encounters far more common than cars. The brand new network features a 225-mile bikepacking route and several shorter overnight routes. \nJoin us for a great discussion\, some route inspiration and a chance to get your questions answered from these talented route creators. \n\n\n\nRegister here: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_OZyfybCmQoejlNe5iqvRsA\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Spring Full Moon Weekend 3 Days Cycling and Camping Trip
DESCRIPTION:This event is hosted by Bikepacking Roots Community Steward Tyler Burton. \nJoin Lichen Bike Tours for an adventure the first weekend after Memorial Day. \nOn Friday we cycle 20 miles from Hudson\, NY across the river to a sweet little private campground with lots of amenities in the sunset shadow of the Great Northern Catskills. We’ll have 2 nights there\, which sets us up for a whole day of riding without heavy bags on Saturday. There will be lots of half-day and whole-day routes to choose from\, including MTB trails. Sunday AM our hosts will lead us on a 90min walk and forest interpretation around their agroforestry grounds before we depart on the 20 miles back to the Amtrak station in Hudson. \nHelmets required! This trip is for all fitness levels and all body types and totally worth traveling for. Nighttime luminance brought to us by the last full moon of Spring. \nConnect with old and new friends while all-day on Saturday you ride some great rural roads that are as flat/hilly as you feel like riding. For riders with big plans in 2026\, this trip is an opportunity to do an early-season test run of any new gear and do a shakedown before your longer trips. If you’re new to camping or new to using your bike frame to carry camping equipment\, this is an easy trial to see if you like it. The community of experienced riders will be so encouraging\, and your guide will ensure that nobody is left alone with a flat tire or carrying too heavy a load. \nThis event is part of Bikepacking Root’s Community Event Calendar\, where we share bikepacking events across the US and Canada. Bikepacking Roots is not involved in the hosting of this event unless otherwise noted. Please reach out to the organizer for more information.

Expect a journey that’s challenging\, varied\, and beautiful — where forest\, water\, and weather conspire to keep you humble and inspired in equal measure. This off-road adventure threads together rugged trails\, remote forest roads\, and rough backcountry connectors — mostly unpaved\, with short stretches of pavement to link it all together. The route connects the Richardson–Zlogar Cabin area in Northfield\, MA to Barre\, MA\, with two overnights along the way. \nVisit the event page for more details and to register. \nThis event is part of Bikepacking Root’s Community Event Calendar\, where we share bikepacking events across the US and Canada. Or maybe you’ve already hit the trail and want to sharpen your skills? This summer\, TripOutside and local Durango bikepacker Sam Lewandowski are hosting a four-part workshop series designed to give new and aspiring bikepackers everything they need to get out there with confidence. \nEach workshop tackles a different set of essential bikepacking skills — from fixing a broken chain in the backcountry to planning your own route from scratch. Sessions are hosted at some of Durango’s best local bike and outdoor shops\, keeping groups small (15 or fewer participants) for direct\, hands-on learning. The series is aimed toward women but open to anyone who wants to learn. \nRegistration for each workshop requires a donation (suggested $10+) to Bikepacking Roots\, a nonprofit that has spent nearly a decade mapping and stewarding over 35\,000 miles of bikepacking routes across the country. Every dollar goes directly toward protecting the public lands and routes we all ride. If you donate $10 or more\, you are entered into a Grand Prize Sweepstakes to win an Otso Fenrir Ti custom-built bikepacking bike. \n\nBackcountry Bike Repair June 17 | 6:30 – 8:00 PM | 2nd Ave Sports\, Durango\, CO Learn how to handle the most common mechanical issues you’ll face on a backcountry bikepacking trip. Professional mechanics from 2nd Ave Sports walk you through brake adjustments\, drivetrain repairs\, tire plugging\, spoke issues\, and more. Topics include what to keep in your repair kit\, adjusting and troubleshooting brakes and derailleurs\, fixing a broken chain\, plugging a tire\, handling a sidewall tear\, and emergency field repairs for racks and pedals. Ends with open Q&A. \nThis event is part of Bikepacking Roots’ Community Event Calendar\, where we share bikepacking events across the US and Canada.
