SUMMARY:Spring Full Moon Weekend 3 Days Cycling and Camping Trip
DESCRIPTION:This event is hosted by Bikepacking Roots Community Steward Tyler Burton. \nJoin Lichen Bike Tours for an adventure the first weekend after Memorial Day. \nOn Friday we cycle 20 miles from Hudson\, NY across the river to a sweet little private campground with lots of amenities in the sunset shadow of the Great Northern Catskills. We’ll have 2 nights there\, which sets us up for a whole day of riding without heavy bags on Saturday. There will be lots of half-day and whole-day routes to choose from\, including MTB trails. Sunday AM our hosts will lead us on a 90min walk and forest interpretation around their agroforestry grounds before we depart on the 20 miles back to the Amtrak station in Hudson. \nHelmets required! This trip is for all fitness levels and all body types and totally worth traveling for. Nighttime luminance brought to us by the last full moon of Spring. \nConnect with old and new friends while all-day on Saturday you ride some great rural roads that are as flat/hilly as you feel like riding. For riders with big plans in 2026\, this trip is an opportunity to do an early-season test run of any new gear and do a shakedown before your longer trips. If you’re new to camping or new to using your bike frame to carry camping equipment\, this is an easy trial to see if you like it. The community of experienced riders will be so encouraging\, and your guide will ensure that nobody is left alone with a flat tire or carrying too heavy a load. \nThis event is part of Bikepacking Root’s Community Event Calendar\, where we share bikepacking events across the US and Canada. Bikepacking Roots is not involved in the hosting of this event unless otherwise noted. Please reach out to the organizer for more information.

Expect a journey that’s challenging\, varied\, and beautiful — where forest\, water\, and weather conspire to keep you humble and inspired in equal measure. This off-road adventure threads together rugged trails\, remote forest roads\, and rough backcountry connectors — mostly unpaved\, with short stretches of pavement to link it all together. Or maybe you’ve already hit the trail and want to sharpen your skills? This summer\, TripOutside and local Durango bikepacker Sam Lewandowski are hosting a four-part workshop series designed to give new and aspiring bikepackers everything they need to get out there with confidence. \nEach workshop tackles a different set of essential bikepacking skills — from fixing a broken chain in the backcountry to planning your own route from scratch. Sessions are hosted at some of Durango’s best local bike and outdoor shops\, keeping groups small (15 or fewer participants) for direct\, hands-on learning. The series is aimed toward women but open to anyone who wants to learn. \nRegistration for each workshop requires a donation (suggested $10+) to Bikepacking Roots\, a nonprofit that has spent nearly a decade mapping and stewarding over 35\,000 miles of bikepacking routes across the country. Every dollar goes directly toward protecting the public lands and routes we all ride. If you donate $10 or more\, you are entered into a Grand Prize Sweepstakes to win an Otso Fenrir Ti custom-built bikepacking bike. \n\nBackcountry Bike Repair June 17 | 6:30 – 8:00 PM | 2nd Ave Sports\, Durango\, CO Learn how to handle the most common mechanical issues you’ll face on a backcountry bikepacking trip. Professional mechanics from 2nd Ave Sports walk you through brake adjustments\, drivetrain repairs\, tire plugging\, spoke issues\, and more. Topics include what to keep in your repair kit\, adjusting and troubleshooting brakes and derailleurs\, fixing a broken chain\, plugging a tire\, handling a sidewall tear\, and emergency field repairs for racks and pedals. Ends with open Q&A. \nThis event is part of Bikepacking Roots’ Community Event Calendar\, where we share bikepacking events across the US and Canada. Bikepacking Roots is not involved in the hosting of this event unless otherwise noted. Please reach out to the organizer for more information. \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

They have a ton of rad merch\, so show up early if you wanna support the shop that designed this sweet route for us. \nThis is self-supported overnight bikecamping on gravel and dirt roads in the Tahoe National Forest area. Only 35 miles total\, but with 4900 feet of climbing\, spread over two days. Tires at least 40c or bigger are recommended for this terrain\, and bring your climbing gears for this one.\nThis will be dispersed camping following LNT principles\, so bring: food\, sleep system\, a water filter\, and a way to bury your own poop (trowel). As always\, this is a casual open-invite trip. \nNo sag\, and no registration or money are required\, but we’ll do our best to make sure nobody is left behind or stranded. Please download the route just in case though. We all wear helmets and ask that you do as well. \nThese rides are at a conversational pace\, and we stick together. If you want to KOM your Strava or impress people by being first up the climb\, don’t bother coming\, as the best of the party is at the back of the pack. \nThis is one of our most popular trips of the summer\, with a couple lovely swim stops on the Yuba River. Link to the route is in my bio\, so be sure to download it in one form or another before the trip\, as cell service can be nonexistent in this area. Don’t hesitate to jump into our DM’s for questions\, and we hope to see you there! \nThis event is part of BIkepacking Root’s Community Event Calendar\, where we share bikepacking events across the US and Canada. SUMMARY:Swift Campout Overnighter on Summer Solstice
DESCRIPTION:This event is hosted by BIkepacking Roots Community Steward Tyler Burton. \nJoin Lichen Bike Tours for a fun weekend overnight adventure on the longest day of the year.\nIf you are only going to do one camping and cycling trip in 2026\, let it be this one. It’s fun\, the hills are at an absolute minimum\, and it’s camping on flat ground with a pavillion\, picnic tables\, and grills. This trip is for all fitness levels and all body types and is excellent for first-timers. Helmets required! \nThis trip is 2 days and 1 night with 30 miles of riding and around 1000ft of climbing. It’s a celebration of bringing people together to ride bikes and camp outdoors. You don’t need 14\,000ft peaks\, you don’t have to be a racer\, you don’t have to ride 3000 miles\, you don’t need to spend money on the newest equipment. It’s about likin’ bikin’ and doing the damn thing\, preferably with other enthusiastic people. \nSwift Campout is an international cycling and camping event on the summer solstice every year\, organized by bicycle bags maker Swift Industries. “On June 21st\, pack up your camp gear to spend the longest day on your bike.” We price this at the minimum to cover insurance costs and make a donation to the community park we’re staying in. Lichen Bike Tours isn’t making any money on this. \nThis is a sunshine-preferred ride because we do not want to drag new riders through cold June rains on their first trip. Our rain date will be one day earlier\, from Friday the 19th at 6pm – Saturday the 20th at 2pm. \nThis event is part of Bikepacking Root’s Community Event Calendar\, where we share bikepacking events across the US and Canada. Bikepacking Roots is not involved in the hosting of this event unless otherwise noted. Please reach out to the organizer for more information.

SUMMARY:Catskills Cycling and Camping Tour 6 Days\, 5 Nights
DESCRIPTION:This event is hosted by BIkepacking Roots Community Steward Tyler Burton. \nJoin Lichen Bike Tours on our biggest cycling and camping adventure of the year\nWe will be cycling from sea level in Hudson\, NY as far as the mellow waters of the Willowemoc and Beaverkill creeks. Daily average cycling is 35 miles and 2300ft climbing\, and we do that for 6 days in a row. The surfaces are 95% paved\, with a long\, flat section of rough gravel at the start of Day 3. The route is very hilly\, but we will all walk together during the most challenging climbs. \nYou can have a great time on your classic touring bike with narrow tires and racks/panniers\, and you could also ride 2 inch tires and a bikepacking setup. Outdoors camping in scenic forests\, several days with swimming spots\, and plentiful stops for food and refreshments make this trip the ideal way to enjoy traveling by bicycle in the Catskill Mountains. \nOur riding will be in two 2-4hr chunks with about 6-8hrs of moving time each day\, and the ride plan is to arrive at camp with plenty of daylight for everyone to do what they feel in the late afternoons and evenings. For the anglers\, those 2 creeks are world-famous dry fly fishing sites and maybe you find some room on your bike for that equipment. Wildlife and night sky photographers will have as many opportunities as the hikers to enjoy their hobby. For those seeking more unpaved roads and mountain bike trails\, your guide will set you up with optional side quests from the campsites. \nThis event is part of Bikepacking Root’s Community Event Calendar\, where we share bikepacking events across the US and Canada. Bikepacking Roots is not involved in the hosting of this event unless otherwise noted. Please reach out to the organizer for more information.
