Rides w Friends #5 Perseids Meteor Shower Campout – Bikepacking Overnight with Kurstin Graham in the Black Rock Desert, Nevada

This bikepacking overnight is a special event in that it coincides with Friends of Black Rock High Rock’s (FBRHR) Annual Perseid Meteor Shower Campout.

This is an easy 7-mile ride on the playa to the “Perseids Cove” https://ridewithgps.com/routes/38605568 from 12 Mile Access. Once we are in camp, it is a fun time communing with like-minded desert rats and participating in all the camp festivities. A night ride, and sunrise ride across the playa are all possible.

Summer camping in the extreme desert environment is the challenge. But FBRHR creates a great camp experience.

Alternatives to riding in include driving in, car camping, but join in the bike rides!

About Friends of Black Rock High Rock: Founded in 1999, we provide education and resources for people using the land within the Black Rock High Rock Canyon Emigrant Trail National Conservation Area. Our membership includes environmental scientists, kite-boarding enthusiasts, campers, star-gazers, conservationists, historians, and visitors from all over the world. We work closely with the Burning Man Project, the non-profit organization that hosts 70,000 visitors to the Black Rock Desert at its annual event, promoting land stewardship through Leave No Trace principles.
