Dates: September 6-8, 2024
Night 1 Campsite: East Bearskin Lake Campground, 124 E Bearskin Rd, Grand Marais, MN 55604
Night 2 Campsite: Flour Lake Campground, 468 Clearwater Rd, Grand Marais, MN 55604
Route: The total route covers 20 miles, primarily on mowed ski trails, with a short ride (less than 1 mile) on the paved Gunflint Trail. The detailed route file will be shared with registered participants.
Weekend Agenda
Friday, September 6: Arrival Day Participants will arrive at the East Bearskin Lake Campground between 5 pm and 9 pm, where they can drop off their gear before parking at Bearskin Lodge. A short bike ride back to the campground (.6 miles) kicks off the adventure. The evening will be spent around the campfire, sharing stories and making final bike preparations for the next day’s ride.
Saturday, September 7: Ride to Flour Lake Campground The day begins with a bike ride to Bearskin Lodge for a pancake breakfast before heading out on the trail. The 10-mile ride through mowed ski trails offers plenty of opportunities to take in the stunning scenery and relax at the top of climbs. After setting up camp at Flour Lake, participants will enjoy a short bike ride and hike to Honeymoon Bluff for breathtaking views before returning to camp for dinner and evening relaxation.
Sunday, September 8: Departure Day After breakfast, riders will pack up and head back to Bearskin Lodge via another 10 miles of scenic trails, completing the adventure around midday.

What should I pack for the trip? A detailed packing list will be provided, but essentials include a mountain bike with a minimum tire width of 2.20WT, helmet, bikepacking bags, clothing layers, rain gear, sturdy shoes, personal hygiene items, hydration system, snacks, sleeping gear, and a headlamp or bike light.
What gear and support are provided? Participants will receive guidance on packing and camp setup, as well as meals on Saturday and Sunday, campsite access, and a guided hike.
What meals are provided? Meals include s’mores on Friday night, a pancake breakfast, snacks, a bag lunch, and dinner on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday.
Is this trip suitable for beginners? Yes, this trip is tailored for aspiring and new bikepackers, as well as experienced riders looking for a curated experience. Basic biking skills on various surfaces are recommended.
What if there’s a medical emergency? A trained trip leader will be on hand to provide wilderness first aid and CPR if needed, with a plan in place for emergency services access.
What are the restroom facilities? Pit toilets will be available at each campsite.
Can I bring additional bags? Participants are encouraged to carry all necessary gear on their bikes to get comfortable with bikepacking.
What is the trip cost? The cost is $150 per person, covering food, campsites, and guided activities.
What is the cancellation policy? Cancellations made more than 7 days before the trip will receive a full refund. If the minimum number of 4 riders is not met or the trip is canceled for any other reason, full refunds will be issued.
