Great Rift Community Adventure Ride & Challenge
June 8, 2023 - June 14, 2023
FreeποΈ Date: June 8th – 14th (Riding days 9th – 13th)
π² Are you interested in experiencing the Great Rift Backcountry and all that the Craters of the Moon Monument & Preserve have to offer for bikepacking?
π To celebrate the finalizing of this route, friend of Bikepacking Roots, Aaron Couch is organizing a community adventure ride. Everyone is welcome. This ride will span the course of 5 days. No one is expected to ride at a specific pace. If you find yourself in the company of others, enjoy it. If you find yourself in the solitude of this wild place, EMBRACE IT. We’ll see you at the finish!
πͺ The challenge is to finish in 5 days. Some of you may want to finish sooner. If so, start later with the plan to finish on June 13th.
You are encouraged to stick around, camp the final night and welcome other riders as they roll into the finish at Kings Bowl.
π This is an awesome opportunity to get outside and discover a new way to appreciate the Craters of the Moon wonderscape on this SELF-SUPPORTED journey through the Great Rift Backcountry! Discover and expand your awareness of the ecological and biological magic of the Idaho High Desert across the Snake River Plain & Columbia Plateau. Enjoy camaraderie, soak in your surroundings (and maybe even a warm spring!), sleep under the stars, leave no trace and finish in 5 days.
β‘The Great Rift Dirt Tour is 283 miles with 9,831 ft of climbing, 87% unpaved with 150+ miles of rugged doubletrack. This isn’t a great route for gravel bikes. Bring your wide tires!
