Valles Caldera Campout with Santa Fe Fat Tire Society in New Mexico
August 19, 2023 @ 8:00 am - August 20, 2023 @ 4:00 pm
FreeJoin Santa Fe Fat Tire Society as we ride 42 miles and 3,500′ of climbing from the Pajarito Mountain Ski area, outside of Los Alamos, New Mexico, across the Valles Caldera National Preserve, with a stop at the San Antonio hot springs, to spend the night in the Santa Fe National Forest before heading 19 miles and 1,900′ of climbing back to Pajarito. We are capping the number of participants to 30 for this event in an effort to mitigate our impact on the spaces where we will be recreating and camping.
This event is NOT guided! Riders should be prepared to ride self-supported, carrying all of their own gear, food, water, and have the ability to navigate the route under their own power.
Although this is a space for beginner-level bikepackers, PLEASE NOTE that all riders must have intermediate riding and gravel experience including but not limited to:
🔹Able to ride 40+ miles and climb +3,200′ in a day on a loaded bike w/ steep, loose hills at high elevation (we will reach approximately 9,700′)
🔹Experience riding on rough unpaved surfaces.
Carpool form – Santa Fe Fat Tire Society will NOT be organizing carpools. Please see the Carpool form to organize rides.
