Bikepacking Gravel Shakedown Ride with RAR.Champlain Valley in Vermont

Let’s load up those bikes!

In preparation of our August bikepacking trip, we’d like to give folks a chance to load up their bikes and take them for a spin on some gravel. This ride is not limited to participants of that trip – anyone who is bikepacking-curious is welcome to come! Whether you are a beginner bikepacker or not, there is always something new to learn or try about bikepacking setups. Use this space as a shake out ride, test out some new gear or to show off your favorite bag.

Date: Sunday August 20th
Start Location: Richmond, VT Park and Ride
Start time: Meet at 8:30am for intros and to reattach bags if needed. We’ll roll promptly at 9:00am.
End time: 11/12-ish. We’ll end at Sweet Simone’s for some coffee and to chat about bike gear.
Route: Check out the @ridewithgps link in bio! This ride gets all of the climbing out of the way in the beginning. There are 2 climbs on this ride, and we will stop and regroup at the top of all hills. There’s an opportunity to cut out some of the climbing as well which we can talk about as a group.
Mileage & Elevation: ~18 miles, ~1300ft of climbing
Pace: 8-10mph
Difficulty: We want you to practice the way your bike will feel different, which may be challenging depending on your experience level. This ride will be no drop and walking your bike is okay!
Bike type and what to bring: Your bike that will handle gravel. Your bikepacking gear! Helmet, water, snacks, flat fixing tools.

This ride is for femme, trans, women and non-binary folks. You are welcome to join without bikepacking gear if you’d like to just come along for the ride! Registration for this ride is not required, BUT if you have specific questions or any gear requests to try out and borrow, let us know by filling out the form in our bio ahead of time so that we can make sure your needs are met.

In the event of inclement weather, the ride will be canceled by an announcement via Instagram by 7:00am the day of.
