Spring Roll Beginner Bikepacking Overnight w/ All Bodies On Bikes – Kansas City and Ottawa Bike+Trail – ONLINE REGISTRATION CLOSED

Join All Bodies On Bikes Kansas City and Ottawa Bike & Trail for the Spring Roll, a beginner-focused no-drop bikepacking event where everybody belongs!
Registration is $15 and is a pass-along cost for the campsites. On Saturday, May 18th the PRIMARY group will meet at Ottawa Bike & Trail at 10a.m. and roll out at noon.
The PRIMARY route is 9 miles each way, there will be dedicated leaders and sweepers to provide mechanical or any type of support. The surface is gravel road for two miles leaving Ottawa and crushed gravel trail for the remainder with a couple of gentle 1-2% grades. The pace may vary a bit as the group stretches out on the trail – sweepers will plan a 5mph pace. No rider will be left behind, and there will have a shuttle for pickup if necessary.
OPTIONAL self-led 30 miles each way starts from Flint Hills Nature Trail Mile Zero in Osowatomie, KS rolling out at 9:00a.m. to meet the PRIMARY group at Ottawa Bike & Trail by 11:30 to convene for a group photo and roll out at noon.
Upon arrival at the Lake Georgia-Sue campground, the group will unload their bikes and enjoy the pastoral vibe. There will be access to the bathroom and shower facility. The afternoon will feature an optional 15-20 mile ‘adventure ride’ or you can enjoy the bucolic lakeside setting with swimming, a playground, wetlands, and farm animal friends. Weather permitting, there will be evening campfire talks with All Bodies On Bikes leaders and a Kansas Wildlife representative.
The PRIMARY no-drop 9 mile groups will depart Sunday at 9 a.m.(weather dependent) with estimated arrival back at Ottawa Bike and Trail at 11:30a.m. Overnight parking IS permitted at both FHNT Mile Zero and the lot behind Ottawa Bike and Trail.

There will be carpools and a possible large shuttle for multiple bikes from KC! RideWithGPS routes will be posted by May 1st.
What you’ll need on the bike: A safe and reliable bike with tires at least 35c or 1.5″ width tires, a helmet, water bottles and flat repair kit, multi-tool, bike rack and/or bags + straps for attaching gear (organizers will provide lots of help with this!).
What you’ll need food: trail snacks for 3–4 hours of riding, dinner (options near campground available), breakfast/coffee, treats to share with new friends
What you’ll need camping: shelter, sleep system, camp clothes, off-bike shoes, swimsuit, towel, toiletries, headlamp, sunscreen, bug spray
What the organizers will provide: advice if you are unsure if you have the right bike for this adventure, all the guidance you want on mounting your gear to your bike, an in-person gear skill share workshop to dial in our bikes (April), access to loaner gear (May), direction on economical ways to gear up and make any necessary additions to your gear library, on-trail support, opportunities to learn and meet new bike friends, lots of online resources about bikepacking, A SAFE, RELAXED, PURPOSEFULLY INCLUSIVE AND COMFORTABLE RIDING AND CAMPGROUND ENVIRONMENT
