Autumn Overnight with All Bodies On Bikes Western Massachusetts
September 30, 2023 - October 1, 2023
Free
All Bodies on Bikes Western Mass is hosting an overnight trip!!
OVERVIEW:
This is a 2 day overnight trip. We will ride all day on Saturday, 9/30, camp in the DAR state forest at tent sites, and then ride all day Sunday 10/1 back to the starting point.
The two ride distances are over 2 days.
- the 40 mile ride is 27 miles the first day and 14 the second (click to see the route)
- the 60 mile ride is 36 miles the first day and 28 the second (click to see the route)
The longer ride is a figure 8 – the route extension is a ride to and from the start of the 40 mile ride. Once the riders from the 60 mile route arrive at Hampshire Regional High School, we will all ride together!
BOTH ROUTES INVOLVE GRAVEL ROADS, SOME TECHNICAL DOUBLETRACK, SINGLETRACK + UNMAINTAINED ROADS. OFF ROAD BIKE HANDLING SKILLS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS RIDE.
WE RECOMMEND AT LEAST 700X38 OR 27.5/26X1.9 TIRES FOR THE RIDE. IDEALLY WITH SOME AMOUNT OF TREAD/KNOBBY BITS. LARGER TIRES WILL BE MORE COMFORTABLE, SMALLER WILL REQUIRE MORE ADVANCED HANDLING SKILLS.
Just like every All Bodies on Bikes ride, this will be a no-drop ride, meaning that we will all ride together and no one will be left behind.
We will also have a support car (get in touch if you are interested in joining but don’t want to ride the whole time, you could help out with driving!), with limited seating available if someone needs to take a break, and space available if you want to drop your heavy bags in the car for a while. The support car is a resource to be utilized, but shouldn’t be part of your plan (ie – don’t plan to pack a duffel back to put in the support car instead of carrying things on your bike). An example of a good use of the support car would be to put your bags in before a long climb, or towards the end of the day if your legs are hurting but you still want to try and make it to camp.
THERE ARE A LIMITED NUMBER OF SPOTS, BUT IF ENOUGH PEOPLE ARE ON THE WAIT LIST, WE CAN BOOK ADDITIONAL CAMPSITES!! SO PLEASE SIGN UP FOR THE WAIT LIST IF YOU WANT TO JOIN BUT SPOTS ARE CURRENTLY FULL.
About the All Bodies On Bikes Western Mass Chapter: An inclusive bike community, centered around joyful movement for everyone! We ride on Nonotuck, Pocumtuck, Nipmuc, and Agawam land.
