Route lengths: There are 200 and 100 mile versions of the Get Lost Loop. Both routes start and end at the Journeyman Adventure Company bike shop (115 N 18th Street, Richmond VA). Each loop heads south of Richmond along the same route until they diverge at the 70-mile mark, just south of Pocahontas State Park. From there, the 100-mile loop heads back to Richmond and the 200 mile continues further east before looping back to the Journeyman’s shop.
Start time: The start time for both routes is 6 am on Saturday, May 25th. We will gather at the parking lot across from Journeyman’s. The shop will be open at 5 am in case anyone needs any last minute gear or bike prep.
Type of riding/terrain: The two Get Lost loops are comprised of mixed terrain (road/gravel/light single-track), and should be ridden with tires that are wide enough to go off pavement. You are welcomed to ride the Get Lost Loop as fast or slow as you like. The only requirements for completion are that riders complete the entirety of the route, and do so without any outside assistance. There are no aid stations, checkpoints, or per-arranged camping areas. Notes about hard to find cut-throughs, potentially dangerous areas, and potential camp sites can be found in the notes document and the route cues on RideWithGPS. After everyone has finished their rides, we will publish results on our site. If you want those bragging rights then by all means – go for it! Otherwise, just have fun and enjoy the ride!
Registration Fee: In order to participate, each rider is required to pay a $20 fee.
Payment options:
Journeyman’s Discount: Registered riders are granted a 20% discount for the purchase of one item at Journeyman’s.
Results/Completion Patches: Completion times will be published on the Journeyman’s website. Additionally, after we have confirmed your completion of the route, custom Get Lost Loop patches will be awarded. You can pick up your patch at the shop, or we can mail it to you (select your option below).
In order to receive credit for completion of either of the two route options, riders must submit a completed GPX of their ride. Email GPX files (Strava/RWGPS links are OK too) to: [email protected].
Route Maps/Notes: Links to each route version are included below. We highly recommend having navigational redundancies, such as downloading the route to your phone and an external GPS device. Give us a holler is you need any assistance with tech or navigation!
