Board of Directors

We are seeking new members to serve on our Board of Directors!

We are currently seeking 5 new individuals to join our Board in the summer of 2024. Read on for more information to see if you or someone you know may be a good fit.

The Bikepacking Roots Board of Directors is made up of passionate individuals who act as representatives of the organization and advocates for the bikepacking community and the landscapes through which we ride. The Board is responsible for overseeing the fulfillment of the organization’s mission, strategic planning, financial oversight, and contributing to organizational growth through dedicated committee work and fundraising. In the second half of 2024, Bikepacking Roots will be working on its next Strategic Plan so Board Members will have the opportunity to provide input into the future of the organization.

We’re seeking new Board Members whose experience, expertise, perspective, and passion will help us fulfill our mission.

That might include experience with:

  • Strategic thinking and visioning
  • Fundraising and development
  • Public lands, conservation and/or bike user group advocacy
  • Connections in the cycling community and industry
  • Cultivating an inclusive, diverse, and equitable community
  • Recreation and route infrastructure development
  • Photography, videography, art, design, or web development
  • Public relations, marketing, and communications
  • Non-Profit management/leadership
  • Accounting and finance

Who is Bikepacking Roots? We are a national non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and advancing bikepacking, growing a diverse bikepacking community, advocating for the conservation of the landscapes and public lands through which we ride. We value human-powered adventure and an inclusive, engaged, and informed membership that makes a positive impact as we explore by bike.

Bikepacking Roots is committed to supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the bikepacking community. To this end, we encourage applications from diverse individuals with a variety of perspectives, identities and lived experiences that will enhance Bikepacking Roots’ ability to create a more diverse, welcoming, and inclusive culture and community in the sport of bikepacking. As we expand our programming throughout the United States, we also hope to increase the geographic diversity of our Board.

Expectations

  • The full Board meets every other month via video conference.
  • Additionally, we ask that all Board Members join one of our three working committees, which generally meet on the opposite months of full Board meetings. We are looking for new members in all of these committees. Our current committees include:
    • Executive Committee (President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary)
    • Development and Communications Committee
    • Advocacy Committee
  • We expect Board Members to commit to an average time commitment of at least 4 hours a month and we ask that members make a three-year commitment to Board membership.
  • We hope that all members can join us for an in-person strategic planning retreat, likely to be held in early November (location TBD).

If you think you may be a good fit for this leadership role with Bikepacking Roots, we invite you to apply at the link below. We also encourage you to share this call for applications throughout your networks and with other people you think might be a good fit.
